The Lie of Self-sufficiency

Self-sufficiency is a myth We all count on one another

So let’s let go of this notion This need To be self-sufficient Oh we will never be For we are not meant to Can’t you see

That the world in me The world in you The world we see In all its’ complexities I rely on it It relies on me We cannot be separated

What I do affects you And you affect me And we both play a part In the change that we see Whether destructive or constructive

We are all dependent on one another Big and small One and all We are interconnected

So let’s let go of this notion This need To be self-sufficient For we will never be It is only an illusion A lie to believe

Interdependence is our call What we were born into For one and for all Oh let truth fall

We need each other And that’s not a bad thing Because we all hold The potential to be great We can end hate

Let’s not be separated And go our own ways Building walls and Caging ourselves within Our own independence

We are in this together And I don’t just mean this covid19 thing We are in this together This thing called life

A woven world Of interconnected beauty And interdependent reality Meant to connect and unite For each other fight Not with weapons But with love Tearing down walls That separate Us from “them”

Well I tell you There is no “them” There is only us All of us Interconnected And embraced within One world

Let us be kind Let us be loving Let us reconnect

Let everything held separate Come together once again Let everything be reunited Made one, as it already is
