Illuminating The Shadows Of The Past — Poetry for Kira Dawn

These shadows of my past Lingering, tormenting Sucking the life off me Memories that last I shall shed you today Like old, withered skin I free myself from you To be reborn again

These vicious beasts Hating, who they see While neglecting the true beauty That’s hidden inside me I’ve never asked I’ve never wished To be admired For my bliss

Yet you came forth Ignorance’s child Spilling your hate on my vessel Like poison so vile The monster’s not me I turn the other cheek, I face Your ridicule again and again While you’re showing your true face

But that’s over now Your impressions won’t last For I am reborn While you’ll be chained to my past My suffering ends here My faith has been sparked And while I have found my light You’ll be caught forever in the dark
