You’d had enough of this nonsense and you couldn’t bother dealing with silly mystery letters any longer. You still had work to do. You were tired. You just wanted to watch the idiot box and take a break.

You think about the fun colors that might come from the fancy envelope, paper and marshmallow. You grab a metal bowl from the cabinet and toss the lot in.

A slight grin comes across your face as you dip a long lighter underneath the pile and set it ablaze.

It’s quick to light but slow to burn. The flames themselves even seem to be slower than a normal fire would flicker. The color show does not disappoint. Ribbons of the entire spectrum of colors burst throughout the flames like silent fireworks. You notice there are no crackling or burning sounds.

You also notice that nothing is actually burning. Everything looks exactly the same within the fire as it did before you lit it.

You take a few steps back.

Everything feels weird and uncomfortable. You feel a sudden urge to dowse the bowl with water and save everything.

You grab a glass and fill it in the sink. Your body is starting to ache now. Just as you are about to pour the water over it all, there is a crack and a large poof of smoke. The fire and the contents of the bowl had completely disappeared. The smoke flickered in colors before dissipating across the room.

You dropped to your knees. The water spilled all over the floor as the glass rolled away. You had never felt this kind of sadness, heartbreak, and loss in your entire life.

Options:

👉 Curl up in a ball and scream 👉 Check the bowl again to be sure it was empty 👉 Get some fresh air on the balcony
