Summary

In a poignant chapter of an ongoing adventure, the protagonist experiences a profound emotional release, discovers a mysterious golden bee pendant that transforms into a glowing tattoo, and is faced with new options to explore.

Abstract

The protagonist, overwhelmed by sorrow, cries both from personal grief and the running sink, feeling the weight of sadness in every cell. After a cathartic scream, they find relief and decide to recheck an empty bowl, only to discover a golden bee pendant in place of the expected ashes. The pendant comes to life, embedding itself into the protagonist's wrist as a tattoo that glows and pulsates. With this new development, the protagonist is presented with three intriguing options: to interact with the bee tattoo, investigate its properties in the dark, or return to the task of writing their manuscript.

Opinions

  • The narrative suggests that expressing deep emotions, like the protagonist's scream, can be therapeutic and transformative.
  • The magical realism element of the golden bee pendant turning into a tattoo implies a fantastical journey ahead.
  • The options provided at the end invite reader participation and hint at the interactive nature of the story, encouraging contributions to its progression.
  • The absence of water after the emotional outpour suggests a symbolic rebirth or renewal for the protagonist.
  • The story seems to emphasize the importance of moving forward despite unexpected changes, as indicated by the option to continue writing the manuscript.

Here on the floor, you held on to that sorrow as water poured forth from your eyes in addition to from the sink. You were always an optimistic person, and this degree of sadness was breaking you from the inside.

You felt it in your body. There was a weight on your shoulders and it was hard to breathe, as if something was constricting your chess. Every cell in your body wanted to call out and scream.

And so you did.

And after a good yell, it seemed like whatever sadness did escape you. Something left your body and you felt light again. You got up to check the bowl again to make sure it was empty.

It wasn’t.

In place of the envelope was a golden bee pendant that glistened in whatever light shone in through your basement window. There were no ashes. Only sparkle.

Surprisingly, there was no water either. You patted your body to see if you’d soaked up some of it just by moping about there, but you were dry too. That waving motion you did as you checked your body over seemed to have triggered something as the bee pendant came alive abruptly, flew to your wrist and before you knew it, painfully inserted itself in there.

You held your wrist as you let your second yell of the day, until the burning subsided to a pulsing warmth. You looked at your wrist.

There was a bee tattoo. It glowed and glistened, just as it had before.

Options:

  • 🐝 Poke the bee tattoo like a button.
  • 👀 Go to a dark room to see if it glows in the dark.
  • ✍ Go back to your desk and write your manuscript.
