The ‘bird wings’ is the #2 upper body exercise for beginners. The overhead press was the #1 exercise we covered last week. The overhead press is a push exercise.
Today’s exercise is a pulling one. Pulling exercises work your back. Your posture gets better. Your back feels great. There’s a myth about pulling exercises I believed for years:
You need a pull-up bar or weights to do pulling exercises
Don’t get me wrong. Pull-ups are great for you. But… can you do pull-ups?
Weights work, too. But… look at birds, do they lift weights? Most birds have perfect posture and a strong back.
Truth is, you need at least one pulling exercise. And you need to start somewhere. The ‘bird wings’ is a good start. It’s a natural movement and you have everything you need for it.
