What will make you money on medium and how much? That’s what you want to know right?

Well you might not like the answer that much, in May I wrote an article every day (and a few days I wrote two). Well actually I binge wrote in a handful of sittings but I published at least one article every day.

So your wondering how much each of those articles earned. Many earned $0. But …

My top 5 earners in May were:

For: $1.46

The same top article as last month.

It’s a very quick overview of a few of the tells of a narcissist.

I still haven’t gotten around to writing a more detailed write up of this, but I still do plan to. I think it could be a very good an useful (and interesting) article if I delve much deeper into examples, things that stand out, and how narcissists hide red flags. and things like that.

For: $0.41

It’s what the tittle says it is, a quick look at 4 things that can differentiate between narcissistic control and reasonable boundaries (which narcissists often hide their control behind.

For: $0.21

Yes! so glad to see this in my top 5. How cool are quirkey animals! and how cool is Imortality.

It’s a bit of a closer look at a few animals that are immortal, in different ways, because there’s more than one way to be immortal. I really like this one.

For: $0.14

Yes!! I’ve published over a hundred articles since January and this is one of my favorites! I just personally like it because octopuses are cool. (as you can probably tell by the fact that I wrote four articles about them.)

For: $0.13

I’m glad people have read this, self care is so important, but it’s too easy to fall into the trap of only doing the enjoyable self care, (which totally counts and is important too) and not doing the difficult or boring bits of self care which can contribute so much to ourselves and our health.

What did they have in common?

They all have a straight forward tittle that describes what the article is about.

They varied in length, some short some long.

I had that one photo twice, (it was a good photo for the topic), most of the pictures were fairly vibrant, lots of contrast and as descriptive of the article topic as is possible (some topics lend themselves to literal pictures others have more conceptual topics that don’t lend themselves easily to clearly descriptive pictures.)

I know I linked the octopus articles at the bottom of many of my other articles and I’m sure that contributed to it’s popularity, I’m not sure how many of the top 5 I linked at the bottom of other articles. That may have played a role.

Two were published in May, and those were posted early in may. Being up for a while may have given them all a boost.

I’m happy with my actual top 5, But most were not published in May, so I’ll pick my personal top five that I’ published in May here:

Because there’s a lot to this feeling. It’s awful, and contrary to popular belief there is actually a lot that we can do to help make this feeling a lot less common for the people in our lives. It’s a message I’d very much like to spread.

Because sometimes we can just tell kids (or ourselves) “hey, have grit, grow, you can improve” But kids (and us, don’t just need to hear that, we need to experience it. Then it can become real.

Because executive function is so useful, and helping kids to develop it is an excellent goal.

Because Goats are awesome!

Because so many movies do this, and it drives me nuts.

How Much Money?

So I mentioned that I wrote something every day. Or binge wrote and published every day. So I’m sure that those of you who are looking at writing on medium and joining the partner program are wondering how much money you will make, here.

That’s going to be up to you, how well you can write and how popular you get and more. I can’t answer that question, but what I can answer is the related question. How much did I earn?

And in May I made $3.92

A bit less than last month. My top earners were not from this month, so they will likely continue to earn more.

So even though I didn’t get paid minimum wage for writing these articles, they may (I hope) continue to trickle money my way for years to come, eventually crossing the threshold of minimum wage and continuing further.

And I hope that as I get better at writing my articles will improve and hopefully I can transfer that improvement into more money too.

Takeaways For Next Month

I’m defidently going to stick to the straight forward tittles. I prefer them anyways and am glad to see them doing well (as opposed to clickbait.)

I want to do this every month, and try to use the things I learned by looking back to improve my work going forwards.

I am going to write a series where I compare the things that narcissists do with the things that everyone does that a narcissist uses as a cover to conceal and confuse us. I am interested in this and it looks like others will be too.

With that said, for those of you who are here to learn more about the possibilities of medium and maximize your pay form it, I’m sorry that I haven’t worked out how to make to big bucks to let you know. (yet…), and I wish you all the best with the writing of your articles, and the making of money too.
