Growth Mindset: Don't Tell, Provide Opportunities for Practice.
There are many programs that tell us to tell students about growth mindset. Ensuring that they have opportunities to practice it is much more important.

Telling students about growth mindset and asking them to adopt one is not enough to truly foster a growth mindset. Simply informing students about the concept of a growth mindset is not enough to change their beliefs and habits. To truly develop a growth mindset, students need to experience and internalize the benefits of this perspective through repeated opportunities to learn and grow. This can be achieved through a variety of experiences, including:
Engaging in challenging tasks that are difficult but achievable
Taking on tasks or projects that are not easy, but are still possible to complete with effort and determination. These types of tasks can help to build skills, increase knowledge, and lead to personal growth and development. Challenging yourself in this way can be rewarding, as overcoming difficulties can bring a sense of accomplishment and pride.
Learning from failures and setbacks
Using failures and setbacks as opportunities for growth and improvement. It means taking lessons from mistakes and using them to inform future decisions and actions. Rather than being discouraged by failure, you can use it as a chance to reflect and make positive changes. By approaching failure with a growth mindset, you can turn setbacks into stepping stones towards success.
Practicing perseverance and hard work
continuing to work towards a goal despite obstacles, challenges, and difficulties. It involves having determination, persistence, and a strong work ethic in order to overcome challenges and reach desired outcomes. Practicing perseverance and hard work can lead to personal growth, improved skills and abilities, and a sense of accomplishment. It requires taking the time and effort necessary to achieve your goals, even if the process is difficult or time-consuming.
Reflecting on the learning process and the growth that occurs through effort and dedication
Regularly taking the time to assess one’s own learning and growth. This can involve evaluating the impact of effort and dedication on personal and professional development. By reflecting on the learning process, individuals can identify areas where they have grown and improved, as well as areas where they may need to focus further effort. This process can help individuals to see the progress they have made, and to stay motivated to continue their growth and development. Additionally, reflecting on the learning process can lead to a deeper understanding of how to effectively approach and tackle new challenges in the future.
By providing students with these experiences, and encouraging them to reflect on the learning process, educators can help students internalize the benefits of a growth mindset and develop a growth-oriented attitude towards learning and life. This can lead to greater motivation, resilience, and success in the classroom and beyond.
