My Top 10 Favorite Writers on Medium

What I love about them and why you will love them too!

I have been on Medium since March and have loved it! Not only is Medium an amazing platform to share our own writing, it is also an amazing place to meet and engage with other writers from all over the world.

I have loved getting to know these strangers on Medium because somehow they have become friends.

The following is my current top 10 list (in no specific order), along with a couple of my favorite pieces of theirs. If you don’t know them already, I hope you will get to know them. And I hope that you will love them and their wonderful work as much as I do.

My Top 10

1. Agnes Louis

Agnes is precious. She is a beautiful and welcoming soul. She is genuine and her writing is heart felt and compassionate. My heart cries out when I read her words, because so often she expresses my exact feelings in a way I only wish that I could myself.

Agnes is an encouraging presence here on Medium. She always responds and often comments on what she reads. Her perspectives cross borders and pull people together into love and understanding.

She calls me love and it makes me love her even more. Her writing is worth your time and getting to know her is even more so.

2. Tom Byers

Tom is hilarious! I really enjoy his humor in the comments he leaves and in his own writing. But he is not only humorous, he is deep and profound. I love reading his imaginative and thought provoking words.

He is a kindred soul in who I really relate to spiritually. My progressive Christianity finds a home in his head and heart and with a friend like him, I don’t feel so alone in my views.

I deeply appreciate Tom’s consistency in reading and commenting. I think it is clear that he is not just on Medium for himself. He is an encouraging force and brings life to those he engages with. As you will see below, he is part of the inspiration behind this piece.

3. Wild Flower

Wild Flower was one of the first followers I had. From the very beginning I loved her work. Her words astound me! They burn within me a passion to be better, to write better, to think deeper.

I read her work and am often left in awe. Maybe one day the words that flow from my pen will be as profound as hers…at least that is my hope. You won’t be disappointed in reading the wildly beautiful poetry of Wild Flower!

4. Cormoran Lee

If this was top 10 commenters, Cormoran would by far be number one! His comments blow me away! They make me smile even on the worst days. They make me laugh out loud and sometimes cause me to stare in confusion. One of the best compliments I have ever received came from a comment of his and I had no idea what it meant until I asked.

Cormoran is the definition of authentic. If you don’t believe me, go read his work. He is absolutely true to himself and has no walls up. He isn’t afraid of what others think and he is unapologetically honest and raw.

His writing is very unique. His train of thought takes you on a journey with unknown destinations. He is a breath of salty fresh air. Meeting this stranger has been so encouraging and I love this brother!

5. Amy Marley

Amy is beyond positive, not only in her writing but in her personality and online presence. She encourages, enlightens, and brings life and inspiration to those who interact with her.

Some of her poetry and writing is light and fun and puts a bounce in your step. Other pieces will grab you to attention and inspire you to dive deep into yourself and into the moments you find yourself in.

Amy relentlessly thanks you for just being you. And you won’t get tired of hearing it because we all need to know over and over again how much we matter in just being ourselves. Your presence on Medium is noticed when you are friends with Amy. She sees you.

6. Edis Rune

I love reading the poetry of Edis Rune! And there is a lot of it. I love the way he poetically tells the story of everyday things and moments. The way he creatively gets into the shoes of other people and even inanimate objects. The way he expresses his identity, his questions, his doubts, and his love. The way he sees the world around him and seeks to add to the conversation of current events.

There is much to appreciate about his words. Often times they are way beyond my level of understanding but I think that is why I love them so much. They leave me questioning, wondering, and deeply pondering. He reminds me that not everything I write needs to be crystal clear. Though I really dislike being misunderstood, I am trying to learn from writers like Edis, that one of the beautiful things about poetry is how open to interpretation it can be.

7. LB

I feel LB pouring his heart and soul into the pieces he writes. His writing is peaceful and often nature inspired. I find myself easily slipping into the world he paints with his words.

Something really unique about him is that he attaches music playlists to each piece. When I finally started listening to them while reading his words, it brought a new depth of feeling to each piece. And I appreciated the music additions to my playlist.

8. Manan Shah

Manan’s writing gives me chills. It is politically stirring. He grasps the heart of the loving God who seeks to care for the lowly, the outcast and the oppressed. I read his work and find myself saying out loud: Yes! Yes!

I connect to Manan’s writing and I enjoy his perspectives and thoughts. I love his compassionate heart. I hope he publishes another piece soon because I would love to keep reading his work.

9. Sylvia Wohlfarth

Sylvia’s poetry is next level. It is so beautiful and profound and poignant. I love reading her work and every word seems to enter my heart with gentle force. Powerful words wrapped in a golden heart of love and humility…easily received and taken in to digest.

Her heart and words overflow with compassion, love, unity, and understanding. She writes with hope and heartache. Wisdom flows through her comments. Read some of her work and I think you will be hooked, like me.

10. Manasi Diwakar

I only recently found Manasi. But I couldn’t stop reading her work! I love the words that flow from her pen. They are water to my thirsty soul. Her words paint pictures I’ve never seen. They are beauty. They are inspiration.

I look forward to reading more of her work and continuing to connect with this amazing writer. I think you will enjoy her work too.

So there it is! My top 10 list!

I hope you enjoyed meeting these amazing writers and I hope you will check out their work.

In making this list, I realized there are so many more writers I wanted to include. I already have a collection of names started for the next one. There are just too many people worth mentioning.

This is the first list, but it is not the last list.
