Show some transgender love?

I apologize for a purposely vague title. Each year from November 13–19, people and organizations participate in Transgender Awareness Week to help raise visibility about trans people and issues. November 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance, an annual observance honoring the memory of transgender people whose lives were lost to anti-trans violence. 2021 is the deadliest year ever recorded in the United States, with at least 45 transgender people, most of them Black or Latinx, killed to date.

I made our Prism & Pen prompt title vague, because pretty much every week for us is a trans awareness week. Emma Holiday, Fiona Leigh , KP_the_writer, Mrs. Capricious and many others tell their transgender stories here every day. So how can P&P meaningfully participate in Transgender Awareness Week? How about those of us who are NOT trans show some love?

If you haven’t been following the news, this year has been awful for trans folks — under withering fire in the U.S. from the religious and political right, and in the U.K. from all sides. Two of our trans writers in the U.K. were assaulted in the streets this past summer for being trans. At random.

Let’s show our love!

This prompt is absolutely for trans writers, but I’m directing it especially to P&P’s cisgender contributors — be you LGBTQ, family, or allies. What can you write about love and transgender people? How can you help raise awareness and show your support?
