Learning About Cosmology Can Make Us Less Judgmental & More Open-Minded for Spiritual Growth
Who doesn’t ask the questions of who we are, why we are here, and what our destiny is?

The size of the universe and its growth is mindbogglingly complex. Yet, our curiosity keeps forcing us to learn more about the mystery. Knowledge is a purifier of deception. However, reading comments such as “no scientific proof, so it does not make sense” or “it is just pseudoscience” to eye-opening ideas, personal disclosures, and beyond-the-box thinking looks disappointing for the growth of our knowledge.
Science is an essential tool for building our knowledge. However, in my opinion, seeing modern science as the only source of information can significantly delay the accumulation of critical knowledge to learn about the universe and our nature. We all desire to learn more about our nature and role in the universe. Who doesn’t ask the questions of who we are, why we are here, and what our destiny is?
Even though we have made significant progress, our science is still at a kindergarten stage to answer these fundamental questions asked for thousands of years. We are in a phase to learn a few words of the alphabet belonging to the universe. Unknowns outnumber known constructs dramatically.
Modern scientists are trying to understand the nature of reality, particularly the complex phenomenon of consciousness, as I briefly touched on in this article: Does Consciousness Survive When the Brain Dies? However, some thought leaders gave us clues that align with the spiritual teachings.
For example, Erwin Schrödinger, who was an eminent physicist, made profound observations and asked insightful questions about the nature of reality. According to Schrödinger, “The total number of minds in the universe is one. In fact, consciousness is a singularity phasing within all beings.”
Schrödinger, who studied quantum physics, is known for his famous thought experiment of the “cat half dead and half alive until observed,” proving “the observer effect” in the quantum world. This historical test theorized that just an observation of a phenomenon could change that specific phenomenon. So the forces of our observatory thoughts can influence subatomic particles such as photons and electrons.
No one can deny the insights and contributions of Nicola Tesla to modern science and technology. He is one of the most prominent inventors in history. We understood his greatness after he died sorrowfully. According to Tesla, “The gift of mental power comes from God, Divine Being, and if we concentrate our minds on that truth, we become in tune with this great power.“
Einstein touched on the surface with his mysterious statement, “spooky action at a distance”. His point reflected the fact that two objects can affect each other’s behavior instantly across massive distances.
Einstein found this quantum effect “spooky” due to limited knowledge at the time. However, it is not spooky anymore as we use this effect in quantum computing. Many quantum scientists and technologists studied this theory to understand the mechanism. This theory has become a mystery for four decades, according to an article on Nature. But now we know more about it.
Many branches of science have been working to increase human conditions and life spans. For example, longevity is the focus of biological sciences collaborating with emerging technology domains. Yet, despite all efforts, most of the population can’t even live more than 100 years. So, we still haven’t figured out the mechanism of life forms on earth despite unfolding the entire human genome in codes.
Not even being able to comprehend the tangible points such as living conditions and life factors, how can we understand consciousness through science? We still struggle to define reality affecting our mental health. Unfortunately, modern science does not seem to be geared to understanding consciousness with current capacity and capability.
However, we have thousands of years of experience dealing with consciousness in various disciplines such as history, anthropology, archaeology, philosophy, spirituality, astrology, and cosmology.
In this article, I want to briefly touch on cosmology, a branch of astronomy dealing with the universe. The focus of cosmology is the origin, laws, evolution, and future of the universe. However, there is also the metaphysical aspect, commonly known as religious cosmology, studying universal phenomena using holy scriptures.
One of my interest areas in cosmology is finding meaningful ways to explain the universe and consciousness for future generations based on scientific methods. Related to cosmology, another branch of astronomy is astrophysics focusing on the physical properties of celestial objects and the interactions among them.
Voluminous papers are written by elite scientists coming from various disciplines of science specializing in cosmology. There are numerous outstanding papers published in many scientific journals. In addition, some community publications, such as the Journal of Cosmology also include artistic and philosophical stories from community groups. You can find cosmology articles of this community at this link.
For example, this paper explored “the cosmological foundations of subjective consciousness in the biological brain, from cosmic-symmetry-breaking, through biogenesis, evolutionary diversification and the emergence of metazoa, to humans, presenting a new evolutionary perspective on the potentialities of quantum interactions in consciousness, and the ultimate relationship of consciousness with cosmology.”
Anthropological and archeological studies indicate previous civilizations. We make sense of life through various natural rhythms on Earth. For example, circadian rhythm based on the relationship between the sun and earth determines sleep and wakefulness duration for humans and animals. I introduced the importance of biological rhythms before.
One of the clues to understanding the nature of the universe is believed to be other rhythms for many galaxies and celestial objects. These rhythms are experienced by thousands of people having out-of-body experiences. Despite the societal stigma, many informed people such Dr Steven Geer and Jason Rice bravely disclose their unique experiences via media sites such as Gaia and even public sites on the Internet.
Of course, the easy and quick way for skeptics to debunk those disclosures is by using the umbrella term “pseudoscience”. However, I won’t delve into this situation as I discussed the importance of pseudoscience as a critical contributor to modern science in this article How Would It Feel Like Living in Separate Realities? Eye-opening perspectives of the extraterrestrial life experiences via intuition from Dr Russell Targ, Dr Steven Greer.
I firmly believe that a multidisciplinary approach to cosmological studies can speed our learning and hopefully take us to primary school from kindergarten. In addition to current scientific studies, philosophical, spiritual, experimental, and artistic experiences can broaden our perspective.
I am also optimistic that artificial superintelligence can significantly contribute to our understanding of the universe by expediting our knowledge for complex problems that humans cannot handle with the intellect. The significant point is ensuring this AI superintelligence does not harm humanity, as discussed in this article: Artificial Intelligence Does Not Concern Me, but Artificial Super-Intelligence Frightens Me.
As Tesla pointed out, if we want to find the secrets of the universe, we need to think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration. Based on my years of observation in science and interactions with insightful people from various walks of life, I firmly believe that “the total number of minds in the universe is one. In fact, consciousness is a singularity phasing within all beings”, as Schrödinger informed us. Consequently, I am happy for my belief to be challenged in ethical and social courtesy boundaries.
