Introduction

This post is an invitation to join, follow, and benefit of ILLUMINATION LinkedIn page designed for writers and editors.

I introduced LinkedIn groups in my previous post.

In addition to our two LinkedIn groups, one for each publication writers, I created a LinkedIn page to support our writers contributing to both ILLUMINATION and ILLUMINATION-Curated.

I provided instructions on how to use our LinkedIn groups in the attached post. Since I submitted this story, many writers joined the groups. Many thanks for encouraging and appreciative feedback.

In this post, I want to introduce LinkedIn page for our writers.

Introduction to ILLUMINATION LinkedIn Page

LinkedIn pages are designed for organizations to showcase their products, services, events, and employees.

A publication is an organization including writers, editors, readers, and content. In our case, the stories of our writers are products and services.

]More specifically, products belong to writers, and the publication offers a service to readers by sharing and marketing them. This is a fundamental business concept.

When I was establishing this page, I had three goals in mind.

1 — The primary purpose of our LinkedIn page is to market stories submitted to our publication. Marketing in this context is to create visibility and attract the attention of prospective readers.

2 — The second purpose of our LinkedIn page is to create collaboration among the writers. Writers can have meet other writers and have chats discussing their stories.

3 — The third purpose of this page is to give potential work opportunity to our writers who are looking for a freelance job and use the publishing as a reference to get prospective customers.

As you may know, LinkedIn is heaven for recruiters because a majority of the members are professionals across the globe. Having an online profile and a CV on LinkedIn are valuable for writers.

In addition, being part of an organization is also beneficial for two reasons.

1 — The first reason is to be discovered by recruiters.

2 — The second reason is to use the organization as a reference point.

Active organizations on LinkedIn attract more followers. Organizations with more followers attract more prospective customers.

To achieve this goal, I automated the distribution of our articles syndicating to our LinkedIn page consistently. This automation means that our page will stay active at all times as we publish stories on 24 hours basis, non-stop, thanks to our 42 volunteering editors coming from different time zones.

As soon as editors publish the stories, they are automatically posted to our LinkedIn page via the Medium RSS service. These ongoing posts keep our pae active at all times.

How can writers take benefit from our LinkedIn page?

Since your stories are posted to the LinkedIn page, your readers can comment on your posts. The more comments a post can have, the more readers can see the post on LinkedIn based on the weighting prioritization of algorithms. Let’s remember from my previous post that LinkedIn has over 500M members.

If you are a LinkedIn member and find your post on our page, you can also share your post on other platforms. LinkedIn allows sharing a post to Twitter and Facebook. If you cannot post your story, you can easily link your story to a post. I explained the steps in this story.

Having your stories on LinkedIn also provide SEO (Search Engine Optimization) benefits. One of the key criteria items for Search engines to index the content of an entry is the domain authority for the source of the entry. As you may know, LinkedIn has a high authority (98) over Google. A combination of Medium’s and LinkedIn’s domain authorities puts your content in an advantageous position.

This means that your LinkedIn backlinks for your Medium stories can increase the visibility of your content, especially in the long term. For example, one of my old articles with a LinkedIn backlink recently attracted 3K views in a few days. These views generated around 20% of the traffic from the native Medium platform. It equates 600 new views for this specific story from Medium members. My story, ironically, did not get these many views when it was first published on Medium.

From stories of some top writers in my publications, I observed 80K to 100K views from Google. Stories with strong backlinks have a higher chance of going viral even if they have old dates. I witnessed several old stories going viral in my publications.

Apart from gaining further visibility of your content, creating visibility to your LinkedIn profile is an important value that I want to give to our writers.

To this end, our writers are welcome to update their profiles reflecting our publication for their writing roles.

When you follow our LinkedIn page and add the page link to your profile, the page shows you as a member of the organization.

I can demonstrate it to you via a screen capture.

As you can see, one of the editors Stuart Englander is recognized as a worker of the publishing organization.

When a recruiter clicks on the “See employee” button on LinkedIn, they can see the profiles registered to this organization, as shown in the next screen capture.

Our three editors Stuart Englander, Agnes Laurens, and Sumera Rizwan linked our LinkedIn page to their LinkedIn profile.

Using this example, writers can update their profiles as a Writer at ILLUMINATION-Curated.

As you can see from the screen capture, there is a message button created for the profile on the page. The message button means that a recruiter can click on the message button and reach out to you with a possible freelance job offer. You are simply one message away from securing a freelance job.

Conclusion

I created the platform and invited all our writers to participate.

There is no cost associated. It is a free giveback activity for our writers.

It is up to you to take advantage of this opportunity.

There is no obligation. You can leave anytime.

Everything I offer is optional and will not affect your writer status with my publications. Our writers can write for other publications. We encourage them to do so.

If you plan to be a freelance writer, LinkedIn can be an ideal platform to create visibility of your profile to prospective recruiters.

Using a publication as a reference, demonstrating your current capability, can be a bonus.

To participate in this initiative, you can follow the page and add the page to your profile. The link for page: https://www.linkedin.com/company/illumination-curated
