Imaginative Illumination: Illustrating My ‘I’ Images
The A to Z challenge on In Living Color: Finding interesting new ways to enjoy photography
Incense

Don’t you just love the smell of burning incense? I sure do! I recently started experimenting with live photos with the help of Jillian Amatt - Artistic Voyages.
Upon inspection of my photos, in order to look for things that start with ‘I’ for this A to Z photo challenge, I had started to get a bit irked.
A little incensed. Ha ha, pun fully intended!
Needed some ideas. Perhaps getting a bit inventive here is just the thing that is required.
I’m not an ignoramus or anything. I can do this!
Incorporating one letter, in this case ‘I’ is an ideal way to revisit old and new photos, and also give yourself a nice vocabulary lesson.
So, what did I do? I looked up a lot of ‘I’ word lists. It’s true, you can find just about anything you could ever dream of on the internet these days.
Without further ado, here are my ‘I’ offerings.
Ingredients in the Islands
What a great ‘I’ word. Ingredients go into the creation of one of my favorite things, and probably one of your favorite things as well… food.

I’ve loved partaking of the various local fruits and vegetables here in my expat home of Trinidad and Tobago: bodi, rambutan, eddoes, dasheen, breadfruit, west Indian cherries, sorrel, peewah, pommerac, pommecythere (and many things I don’t even remember the names of) as well as delicious staples like pineapple, coconut, mango, carrots, onions, garlic and zucchini.
We use many of these as ingredients in our cooking, which often consists of curries and stir fry dishes and in the fruit smoothies I drink almost every day in place of lunch.
What are your favorite ingredients where you are?
Ice cream

Is this not one of the best ‘I’ words?
Yum! These were a couple of my photo “experiments” playing around with monochrome. Experimenting with photographing food means you can eat your subjects when you are finished. Love it!
Iguana

I’ve provided this photo in a couple of previous stories.
I do believe this to be an iguana but if anyone knows different, please let me know.
Irene

Having grown up in the western U.S., I’d never experienced a hurricane before moving to the state of New Jersey in 2009. Awww, it’s a rite of passage for most Easterners to experience a hurricane.
This was Hurricane Irene, which hit Central New Jersey in 2011. Since then, I’ve experienced many more hurricanes while living in the state of Florida, but luckily nothing too crazy.
An Inactive Irish girl

Having a fun and lazy time at Maracas Beach here in Trinidad. Splashing in the water of the beautiful Caribbean Ocean and having a Trini cocktail.
I try to stay active as much as possible, yet inactivity and rest periods can be lovely as well. And yes, I’m an Irish (plus Swedish-German) girl.
Imagining in Indigo

One of my favorite photos from Strawberry Fields in NYC. I use this photo a lot. Love The Beetles, especially John Lennon.
Here I gave it a slight indigo filter.
Ice

The icy Snake River in Idaho… looks freakin’ cold doesn’t it? Well, it was!
Somebody ignite a fire.
Invincible
Oh yeah, that’s you and me, right? Invincible!
