ILLUMINATION Writers- An Invitation to Showcase Your Best Writing
There’s a Place for You at ILLUMINATION-Curated
Recently, Dr Mehmet Yildiz invited the writers of ILLUMINATION to put together a collection of their best stories and submit them to ILLUMINATION-Curated. The collections will be featured in a special way.
In this story, I would like to discuss the invitation and add some clarity so writers will be able to make their submissions with ease.
When ILLUMINATION was about six months old, the team realized there was a need for an additional publication to support our top writers and discerning readers.
After some consideration, Dr. Mehmet Yildiz created the ultimate in cross-pollination, ILLUMINATION-Curated. This offers high-quality content to our readers while meeting the needs and aspirations of our writers.
It’s a hybrid of sorts, with all of the best features of ILLUMINATION and more. Like best friends with benefits, the two publications are independent yet unique in themselves.
These publications offer a two-tiered approach.
Beginners and intermediate writers are supported and encouraged at ILLUMINATION, while the highest quality work is gathered at ILLUMINATION-Curated.
It’s an opportunity for writers who haven’t been curated to shine as well.
The ultimate in cross-pollination occurs when a writer for ILLUMINATION is able to polish a piece and attain a spot at the new publication. We’re happy to welcome you there.
In the first phase, we invited top writers to make submissions of curated and quality stories.
The first phase of the pilot project went smoothly. We are now moving to the second phase.
ILLUMINATION-Curated hosts outstanding stories of accomplished writers. They consist of top writers, industry leaders, and prominent researchers at the doctoral level.
Our ultimate goals are to increase views and reading times of stories authored by ILLUMINATION writers and offer outstanding content to our valued readers.
Phase One
We Considered Three Types of Articles for inclusion in ILLUMINATION-Curated.
- Medium-curated articles published in ILLUMINATION. Writers can move their articles to ILLUMINATION-Curated.
- Articles published in ILLUMINATION, but not curated by Medium. If these non-curated articles meet our submission guidelines and Medium curation guidelines, they may be selected by our editors using a set of criteria. If the editors approve the article for publication in ILLUMINATION-Curated, the writer is invited to move their articles to ILLUMINATION-Curated.
- Direct submission by approved writers to ILLUMINATION-Curated, meeting all submission guidelines and approved by our editors. We have selected quite a few top writers as part of this pilot, and we are eager to extend our offering to more writers.
Phase Two — Self Nomination
We want to offer this opportunity to all ILLUMINATION writers.
We are looking for pro-active, responsible, collaborative, and optimistic writers.
Writers are responsible for creating a collection of quality stories in a specific format and submitting it for consideration.
Create A Collection Of Your Best Work
This is an opportunity for aspiring writers to level up.
First Steps
- You need to have at least five quality stories published on ILLUMINATION.
- Create a collection of up to 10 quality stories using the specific format outlined below.
- Request to be added to ILLUMINATION-Curated via this link or leave a comment on this story.
- All stories must meet Medium rules and Medium curation guidelines.
How To Create Your Collection
Writers meeting the above steps may create a collection of their best stories.
These stories don’t have to be curated by Medium, but they must meet Medium curation guidelines.
To create your collections, please follow these steps:
- Select your best stories, up to 10.
- Update your stories to meet Medium curation guidelines.
- Add your story links to a new story (The Collection) using the formatting provided in the next section.
- Write a short description of each story including the purpose, impact, and audience of the story, 75–100 words.
- Submit the new story (The Collection) to ILLUMINATION-Curated. Remember to request to be added as a writer to ILLUMINATION-Curated via this link.
Formatting
Use this Title: “Self-nominated Stories by [Insert your account name].”
Use this Subtitle: “My best stories selected from ILLUMINATION.”
Please use the following formatting for each story in your collection.
1. Title of your story, in heading one format, use the large T.
2. Name of the topics you would like to be considered in. For example, #Relationships #Self (select up to three topics). See the list of Topics at the end of this story.
3. A short description of the story in italic quotes around 75 to 100 words.
4. An embedded link to each story you are adding to the collection.
5. Tag Dr Mehmet Yildiz at the end of your story (The Collection) so I can easily add you to the review process.
Have a look at this sample collection for an example of the formatting we want you to use.
We expect quite a few submissions so be sure to tag Dr Mehmet Yildiz in your collection to help streamline the process.
Review and Acceptance
Our editors will review, discuss, and vote for the inclusion of your collections as you submit them to ILLUMINATION-Curated.
This will take some time so be patient as we work through the submissions.
If your story is good but requires minor updates, editors may leave a private message requesting your work on the story for improvement.
Please respond to their messages promptly. If you have turned off your notifications, you won’t receive a message and your article will not be accepted.
We will host selected collections in a special landing zone as featured articles.
Once we publish your story, our editors will leave a brief private message on your story.
The editors at ILLUMINATION-Curated await your collections with great anticipation and excitement.
If you take personal responsibility and take advantage of our platform, readers, and this process, you can gain new followers, turn your followers to your fans, and get visibility for some of your best stories.
