I love writing for my fellow Medium writers. We are in here together, especially the new ones.

Medium isn’t a club for the big boys or an exclusive club for writers who have made a lot of money here. Usually, they are the ones who complain. That said, let me help you get into the Top Medium Publications and Make Money with the Medium Partner Program.

I am a writer on the following Medium publications.

  1. 2 Minute Madness
  2. About Me Stories
  3. Ascent Publication
  4. Better Marketing
  5. Curious
  6. DataDrivenInvestor
  7. Feedium
  8. Hello, Love
  9. Illumination
  10. Illumination-Curated
  11. Political Sense
  12. The Post-Grad Survival
  13. The Startup
  14. The Writing Cooperative
  15. Writer’s Blokke

Of the 15 Medium Publications I was accepted as a writer, I published one article in the top Medium Publication The Startup, which remains to be one of my favorite stories.

Even Google loved it, and while it got thousands of views, my earnings from the story as of today is $14.70, which I’m very grateful for.

Arigato, Money!

TDS Editors even mentioned my story. Thank you, Richmond Alake.

When I got published on The Startup, it is a validation that I can do this, that I can be a writer.

It was an important step in my writing journey. I have submitted a few more articles for The Startup, but I haven’t been published again.

There are other stories I am very proud of, like when I got published on Better Marketing and Writing Cooperative. Having to work with editors was a learning experience.

But neither of the stories made me a Star like Tanqueray, kidding.

I mean, publishing in well-known Medium publications doesn't guarantee three things.

  1. Virality or Views
  2. Money
  3. Medium Curation

And, you should know that you can also publish your stories on your personal profile, meaning publishing them on “No Medium Publication.”

My profile is,

As you can see, even by publishing my stories on the Medium publications that I own, my stories can still get Medium curated, or what we all aspire here as writers, to be Chosen for Further Distribution.

And if you are still looking for Medium Publications to submit your stories, look no further. For me, they are the two friendliest publications to submit your stories to. The editors are very welcoming to new writers, and I still consider myself a newbie.

I have to say, and I owe these two Medium publications to give me the platform for my stories that contributed to my April Money Bonanza, being one of the top 1,000 Medium writers who got the $500 Bonus. Thank you, Casey Botticello, for adding me to your list.

Medium Curation — Chosen for Further Distribution

Let me talk briefly about Medium Curation, or when I was new here on Medium, what I aspired for the Chosen for Further Distribution badge on my stories.

3 things you need to know about Medium curation

  1. It doesn’t translate to virality.
  2. Your article doesn’t need to be published in a popular publication.
  3. It doesn’t bring in the money.

I will not stop you from chasing Medium curation but do keep in mind that sometimes good writing is good enough.

Advice to my Fellow Medium Writers

Ask yourself, what are your goals, mine have changed, it has become money. Don’t judge me.

But I love what I am doing, sharing stories and discoveries. I will continue to write great stories and submit them to bigger Medium publications.

But I refuse to be enslaved by the idea that I need validation to continue to write.

I will continue writing because I love it. I will continue writing because I can make money online from it. I will continue writing because when I am gone, my words live on.

You don’t need to write for big Medium publications. Sometimes it will only break your heart if you are rejected. I am suggesting write for friendly Medium publications, where the editors are cool and supportive.

The only thing worth chasing is your dreams.

Also, it would be best if you started your own Medium publications. With a single Medium account, you can have as many as seven Medium publications where you are the Editor and the Boss.
