How To Ensure Success
You only have to make one decision.
Success is at the other end of the hardest thing you have to do.
Success is at the other end of that thing that you already know you have to do, but don’t. Maybe you’re scared. Maybe you’re lazy. Maybe you’re unmotivated. Maybe you don’t really believe in yourself. Maybe it’s too hard for you to commit to. Maybe the unknown bothers you.
But how long are you going to sit around being a scared, lazy, unmotivated, doubtful, noncommital individual bothered by uncertainty when all that exists in life is uncertain?
You don’t need another book. You don’t need another article (hell, let this be the last one you ever have to read on this topic). You don’t need another podcast. You don’t need another motivational video. You don’t need another seminar. You don’t need to keep looking. You won’t find that easy-going answer that somehow flips the switch inside of you. You’ve tried, and it doesn’t work, does it?
You’ve found out that you’re being lied to but don’t want to believe it. It’s not easy. You most likely won’t get it done. I hope you prove me wrong.
You’ve heard enough. You’ve heard the same thing over and over. No one is saying anything different. Why?
Because the proof is in the pudding.
If there’s anything that’s certain, it’s the keys to success.
There isn’t a successful person who hasn’t worked hard and consistently, committed, sacrificed, had patience, had grit, accepted being uncomfortable, faced fear, faced the unknown, etc. There isn’t a successful person who has gotten where they are by ignoring the hard, simple, and proven methods that you often ignore in search of those useless answers you can stomach.
Everyone wants to know how to get there, but they don’t want the actual answer.
Us “self-help” people have no choice but to regurgitate what’s already been said because that’s pretty much all there is to it.
I write on personal growth because maybe I’ll reach that one person and get them to move their own needle forward. I write on personal growth because at the least people should be mindful of it. At the least, people should become aware of the one life they are living and make intentional choices. I write on personal growth because even if you get stuck in a loop of consuming and not doing, at least you’re staying positive.
The reality is no one can get you to do what you already know you have to do. No one can get you to open that door. Consume all you want.
You already know that to succeed you must work really hard and consistently over the long run. It’s not a short game. You must commit. You must sacrifice. You need to work like hell. There’s no going around this. You have all the tools you need. Instead of acting like this is such a hard feat, consider how simple the solution to your dream problem really is.
All you have to do is work hard? At least that’s just one thing.
Of course, working hard is hard. Don’t get me wrong. Of course, working hard encompasses many things like being patient, being committed, being uncomfortable, sacrificing lots of things, pursuing despite how you feel, pushing past fear and uncertainty, believing in your capability, daily and deliberate practice, living with intention, combating the regret of having not tried, etc.
But I’m not telling you anything different. Be thankful that you’ve already heard the answer, many times. When are you going to follow it? When will you apply what you learn?
I’m talking to you, but I’m also talking to myself. Why do I waste so much time looking for the same answers? I could’ve spent it all on grinding daily.
I have huge dreams that require huge effort and commitment. I don’t believe in playing small. I hate being bad at something. I’m looking to master. I’m looking to be the best. I don’t have time to sit around feeling sorry for myself.
Why am I so weak? I’m not here for no reason, so why am I so weak?
I must be capable. If I’m not, what am I even here for?
I don’t know everything. I don’t know if I’ll make it, but I damn sure can’t wait around, doing nothing and expecting everything.
I can’t sit around lazy and unmotivated looking for that one spark that will set the fire within me. There’s no external magic I can use that will get me there, I have to seek and use the magic within.
I have to do this. We have to do this.
Make that one decision. Listen to that voice in your head that constantly tries to pull you in the right direction. You’ve gotten way too strong at ignoring that voice.
Some force out there wants you to succeed.
We only get one shot. We aren’t coming back. If you feel like you’ve wasted your time up until now, then please, please, start doing what you need to do. Start putting in the work.
Don’t wait until the deathbed to feel sorry. Don’t wait until he deathbed to accept the truth that you should’ve been doing all the things you know you need to do now.
If you don’t believe change is possible, you’re insane. How many have had to do it before you for you to believe it?
If you don’t believe you can be the one who does this or that, accomplishes this and that, then you definitely won’t.
You have to literally mold a different person. Who you are right now is not who you will be in the end. Your actions today and for the rest of your days determine who you end up becoming, and only you can decide if you will be proud of that person.
If you aren’t growing you’re dying.
If you can’t look at yourself years from now and hardly recognize the amazing person you’ve become from who you used to be if you can’t hardly believe the new version of you that you’re looking at in the mirror, what have you done with your life?
Maybe growth and dream-achieving aren’t for everybody. To me, it’s everything. If you are perfectly content with where you are, I’m happy for you. I sure as hell am not.
I’d rather live in my dreams than hate myself for not chasing them, but I’d rather chase them and actualize them over anything else.
There’s nothing worse than regret. There’s nothing worse than getting to the end of your life and realizing that you’ve completely wasted it. I’m speculating here, sure, but just thinking about it sends chills up and down my spine and does something funny to my heart. Something funny to my eyes. Something funny to my mind. It doesn’t make me feel good, and if I feel this way now thinking about a life wasted, I can’t imagine how jacked up I’d be in the end if I continue along this path.
You have to mold that power within you that you already have. You have to strengthen it. It’s the only way. You have to become a person you can trust to get the work done. Change your story. Change your identity. David Goggins once said that “You’re gonna see me for who I am because I need to change who I’m not”.
You are not your past failures. You are where you are heading. You are the path you choose. Tony Robbins once said that “If you’re using a rearview mirror to guide yourself, you’re going to crash”.
The person you become is at the end of your destination, and I pray that destination keeps moving forward for as long as it can.
