A Guide
How to Believe In Yourself Again When Life Gets Rough
You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. — Buddha

Do you sit in the corner of the dimly lit room staring blankly into the void? Does your breath choke you? Does the zest to live to get lost somewhere? Do you have so much pain that either you cry endlessly or can not cry at all?
Well, my friend, I want to hug you and sit beside you. Will you allow it?
I want to hold your hand and see within your eyes to show how important you are. I may not know you personally, but I can feel your heart.
The churning, the inability to breathe, the swollen eyes, the sleepless nights, or the immense pain may crush your soul. I can feel you, dear one.
It may seem that you have lost everything — a loved one, relationship, job, security, position, respect, or anything. But there is still one thing that you have, that is 'You.'
Nobody, no situation, or words can decide how valuable you are. You are priceless. Your life is invaluable.
The world will tell you what you are worth, until you show it you are not for sale. ― Broms The Poet
Stop giving importance to those who say it otherwise. Some people love you dearly. There are moments where you have uplifted many. You are irreplaceable and a vital part of this Earth.
It Is Okay to Feel Devastated and Be Lonely, but Don't Drown Your Beautiful Self in Desperate Times
It is okay to feel wrecked. The pain might be crushing you right now. But hold on to the fine thread of hope.
You might wonder if you'll ever live joyfully again. Your life may seem to have gone wasted. Your love, time, energy, the investment may all seem to water down. The insecurity and fear may grip you.
It might be scary to step into this insane world. Right now, the room's corner may feel secure, with loneliness, tears, and pain as your friend.
You have every right to be alone and cry. Fear, anxiety, and panic are natural. No need to rush. No need to force yourself with a smile.
But have faith that these vulnerable moments are a building block of new and stronger 'YOU.'
Right now, it may feel terrible. But that does not mean it will always stay like that. Every situation is temporary. What comes also goes.
Don't hate your lovely self for remaining stuck.
Life is not the moments of the past. You have already battled many struggles before. This one might be tougher. But you are stronger than this. You can hold the problem with its horn and pin it down.
Yes, you can!
Give yourself some time. Don't allow the waters of the past to drown you. You can swim and come out of this sh*thole. Just believe in yourself.
You may not control what happens to you. But you can decide not to be reduced by them. — Maya Angelou
It Is Okay to Let Go of Things That Are Not Meant For You
Years ago, I was in a similar situation where I felt the same strangulation for days and months. I could not breathe, eat, or sleep. I could not bear the thought of living one more day.
I even wrote a suicide note. Tears drowned me until they all dried up. I was like a dead doll for weeks.
Till one day, I decided enough is enough. I promised myself I'd never let myself go this down in my life ever. From that bottom rock foundation, I re-build myself.
For years, I told nobody about my dark days. It was too difficult to share. It is only a miracle that I'm writing these lines here after over 15 years.
Life is such. The same life that shows us the darkest days gifts us the beautiful days.
It is difficult to comprehend life when you are stuck. There is no greater strength to let go of things not meant for you.
Letting go is not for weaklings. And you are not a wimp. Surely it will take time. Take all the time you want.
With each day, slowly wiggle out of the den you have made for yourself.
- Be kind and gentle with yourself. Don't push yourself.
- Each day, try to do something better than the previous day. It can be one more push-up or one more chapter of your favorite book, or a few more minutes of chat with someone.
- Nature is an excellent soother of pain—walk-in nature. Roll down like a child in its lap and let mother heal you.
- Channel the pain and hurt in creativity. Sing a sad song, paint your hurt on canvas, get dirty in the soil, and do gardening. Block some time for the creative activities.
Love Yourself Like You Loved Someone Else Passionately
You, my friend, are a wonderful human being. Your heart is lovely like no other.
No one is like you on this Earth. You are unique and irreplaceable.
Love is your second name. Don't let it go waste. Pour love in yourself. Love yourself like you loved someone passionately.
- Right now, sit comfortably.
- Place your hands on your amazing heart.
- Inhale slowly with the nose and exhale more slowly with the mouth. Do it three times.
- Gently caress your heart with slow pats.
- Whisper tenderly, "I love you so much. You have been through extremes. I know you are hurt and in pain. It is okay. I am here for you. Don't worry. You are protected now. You are safe here. You can cry, laugh or be silly. I'll not judge. I love you very much, my sweet little heart."
- Let the precious tears of love flow.
- Wrap your hands around yourself and give a squeezing hug.
- Feel the love flowing through your being.
- Imagine the beam of pink light entering through your head and spreading through your body. This pink light is the light of divine light. It is filling your heart and each cell of your body.
- Remain like this for a few moments. Bask in this light and feel of divine love.
This is your superpower. Use it for infinite times to recharge yourself with unlimited divine power. Repeat this exercise as much as you want.
Give Yourself One More Chance
You don't live once. You die once. In between, you live many times. Setbacks don't define you. What defines you is the courage to step up and pave your path.
Yes, life is complicated. But when you pass the boiling river of hard times, you come out as a renewed and more robust version.
The noble prize winner, Albert Einstein, was considered mentally handicapped when he could not read at seven.
J. K. Rowling was divorced, broke, and a single mother on benefits when she started writing about Harry Potter. Publishers rejected her multiple times.
Many known artists have used their heartbreaks as a source of their inspiration. They channeled their hurt, agony, confusion, and pain into creativity and created a successful business out of it. The heartbreak became their food for healing.
Life is all about giving chances. Be gracious. Even if everything is not okay does not mean it never will.
- Take each day as it comes. Life is not in the future. It is flowing right now.
- Healing is not in the future. It is right here and now.
- Give yourself another chance when you wake up in the morning. Hug yourself. Smile for yourself.
- Breath deeply again when breathing feels heavy again.
- Tell yourself how much you love yourself. Show your love to you.
- Journal your feelings and pour out your raw expressions.
