How About Adding Some Spice To Your Life?
Newsletter-Review of the week 6–13 Nov.
Dear Family and friends,
The weekend is here. Hope you are all having a wonderful and peaceful time.
How is November treating you all?
I have a lot of spice in my life!
I am happy to share with you that the week has been enjoyable. I read so many articles on Medium about views, reads, earnings going down and so many writers leaving. Oh so sad!
I am enjoying Medium even with the low views, reads, and earnings because I am spicing up my life.
I am here to enjoy interacting with you, editing posts, clapping for your posts, and reading your work.
I decided to add some spice to my life this week by adding some excitement to my daily life.
How did I do it?
I added spice to my life by being inspired to do things in my own city like a tourist would do.
In other words, I became a tourist in my own city
1️⃣I started by exploring a new place in my own city. I went to see a hidden gem, a beautiful park called Bharat Darshan with a group of people which was very rewarding.
It brought in interaction with people and happiness and a sense of belonging with the group.
2️⃣A friend invited me to lunch with other people. She asked for my recommendation and I named a new and relatively unexplored place.
During the week I made it a point to explore different restaurants and ethnic foods with a different set of people.
It was enjoyable to explore new restaurants. So many have closed down after Covid -19 and new ones have mushroomed with specialties.
We had many great fun meetings. So this is because I said yes to fun opportunities
Instead of saying an automatic no, make a change in your lifestyle and say yes to invitations from friends and family members to get out and about and be exposed to new adventures.
3️⃣To get my creative juices flowing I danced on stage at a program.
A ladies club in which I have become a member recently posted in the group that they wanted some people to sing, dance, or act for their program.
I added that extra spice to my life by doing a Portuguese retro dance. It was a long time since I did a dance on stage. It was something different.
4️⃣Finally, I bought saplings and sowed them in the park where I volunteer my time.
Nature is a blessing to me. Spending time out either to go to a park or to understand and speak to plants made me add even more spice by fulfilling my life with joy.
I feel we should not waste time only making strategies but take action in our lives to change the monotonous scenery and have a change of thoughts.
Inspire yourself by adding new ideas to creatively enjoy yourself.
Do tell me how did you enjoy your week or how you plan to spice up your life?
Let me now bring to you a review of our posts at Dancing Elephants Press for the week of 6th-13th November 2022.
We received wonderful submissions from wonderful people. Our prompts are catching on. We are planning a living book with 52 prompts in the year. They are open prompts. You may write whenever you like.
Review of posts
In response to prompt 6 of 52 Colors of joy.
Gabriella’s colors of joy are her paintings. She is experimenting with different colors and techniques. She has created amazing paintings with robes and hydrogen peroxide. The effects are marvelous.
Nicki loves the colors of rocks, sandy red earth, the dusty green of the eucalypt and olive, and the blues of the sky and sea. She loves hiking and the lovely season of Australia.
For Monoreena color is the Medium she uses to lift her mood. She paints beautifully and writes poetry but she accepts the gray of life where you have some and loses some,
We left with a big white bag full of rainbow goodness. We marched down the sidewalk eating sugary blue crystals and soft sour watermelons.
Lola went on a road trip to Arecibo, Borikén with her friend. She had some wonderful experiences there. She meditated, walked, and sang over there. She found three flowers over there. She felt she had received blessings from mother nature to find her colors of joy spiritually and emotionally.
Non-Prompt Post
Aarti has outlined the fact that one should grieve but eventually, healing must be there to move forward in life. Time is a healer but a solution has to be found and pity for self should not be continued for long.
Honoring veterans' posts.
Another contest is going on in Dancing Elephants by DR Rawson - The Possibilist which closed on the 11th of November. Some of these posts:
It is always good to honor the veterans who served the country by risking their lives and leaving their families behind not knowing when they will have a reunion. Read the beautiful thank you note and salute to veterans.
Gabriella wrote a beautiful poem to honor the veterans. They leave their families and sacrifice their easy life to rigorous terrains. The least that we can do is to give them some affection and love.
Thank you Jennifer for sharing three personal stories of veterans and their issues and challenges. She wants to ask a question from them “What did you have to do in order to be able to serve?”
This is a beautiful poem in honor of the veteran's hard work and dedication to the country, she is in gratitude to them for their service. She calls them guardian angels..
Prompts during the week
Thank you so much Lorena for the poetry prompt for November. what do good vibes mean to you? I am sure we will have a lot of poets to contribute towards it.
My colors of joy are meeting people, celebrating festivals, and giving happiness to people who do not get a chance to do so.
