Finally, I Was Cloned! Does It Mean I’m a Celebrity Now?
Beware of accounts that emulate our names and photos.

Clone Saga: Am I Famous Yet, or Just Seeing Double?
I was knee-deep in editorial tasks, blissfully posting my meticulously crafted lists. Suddenly, my Slack and Discord blew up as I’d accidentally launched fireworks indoors. Panicked, I braced for the apocalypse.
Lo and behold, amidst the chaos were a slew of hilarious yet caring messages. Turns out, a doppelgänger set up shop, hijacking my account name and photo for a wild joyride.
Turns out, there was another “me” floating around, a twin from the digital dimension mimicking my every virtual move. Oh, the perils of online shenanigans!
Here’s what the account looks like.

Ah, got it! How about this?
Usually, when usernames resemble a random jumble of characters or a mix of letters and numbers, there’s a suspicion that it is a bot at play. But hey, it is not a surefire way to finger-point at the bots. They’ve got some sneaky moves up their digital sleeves.
On a serious note, I immediately reported it using this great feature on Medium.

If you are reading this post, please do the same so that this account is quickly removed from this platform. I hope the Medium administration team removes this offending account urgently before it causes trouble for me and my readers here.
Phew! Some friends thought I got hacked, but turns out my account just had a moment of fame. Crisis averted, folks!
Interestingly, a few weeks ago, they did the same thing to Dr Mehmet Yildiz. I know he is popular, but I am a tiny writer, and why would they clone my count? It beats me.
Looks like my alter ego is in high demand. I mean, why else would someone clone my not-so-famous account? It is a mystery bigger than my morning coffee cravings.
Dr. Yildiz dropped some wisdom on this issue and sounded the alarm for writers and readers. Seriously, check this story out; if they’re cloning little ol’ me, nobody’s safe!
He also wrote about fake subscribers recently.
We need InYah to handle these folks.
And dear Medium Staff, please don’t follow fake accounts. They can be very harmful to our peaceful platform. As readers like me trust you as a big account, they might start following these fake accounts.

Here is a sample of how these fake accounts trick our readers for their phishing goals. Thanks, Marcus aka Gregory Maidman my editor friend, alerting us.

Some friends think I was hacked, but when I checked my account, everything was fine. Great relief.
Thank you for reading my ridiculous yet concerning story.
