From Euphoria to Tattoo in a Decade

My story might surprise my readers as I did not write a piece specifically about music, even though I use music for therapeutic purposes and to enhance my cognitive abilities. I wrote this piece after a euphoric moment for another remarkable work of a famous singer, Lorreen, impressing millions of her fans globally.

Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui, 39 and a highly talented Swedish pop singer has once again captivated the hearts of millions of fans worldwide by winning today's 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

With her mesmerizing performances and unique music style, Loreen has become a celebrated artist in the global music industry.

Her song “Euphoria” was the winning entry in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. This unique song left an everlasting impression on me.

This wonderful work of art and her performance inspired me to name my publication Euphoria, a feeling I deliberately initiate daily to maintain my mental health.

I named my personal publication Euphoria because one of my writing goals is to illuminate and inspire my readers using the insights and sensations from my daily euphoric moments.

I explained the meaning of Euphoria in mental health in a previous story. I also documented my unique experience explaining five natural ways to feel euphoria anytime and anywhere at your will.

Loreen’s remarkable piece Euphoria is known for its powerful lyrics and catchy beats. The meaningful lyrics revolve around love, self-discovery, and personal growth.

She has a unique ability to connect with her audience on a deep emotional level, making her music an inspiration for many.

Her recent song “Tattoo” won first place in Eurovision 2023, giving me another euphoric moment today. Therefore I decided to write this piece to share my joy timely.

“Tattoo” is a typical example of Loreen’s ability to convey emotion through music. The song's lyrics revolve around the idea of a person’s soul leaving a mark on someone’s life, just like a tattoo.

The song's message is about the importance of making a lasting impression on those around us and the impact we can have on people’s lives.

In this performance, she created a unique sound and style resonating with audiences worldwide. Her music reflects her artistic journey and experiences, making it relatable to her fans.

But Loreen’s impact goes beyond her music. She is also an advocate for social justice and human rights. Her activism and support for causes like LGBTQ+ rights, refugees, and women’s rights have made her an inspiration to many. I cover these points in the following sections.

Her music has touched the lives of millions of people around the world, and her message of love, self-discovery, and personal growth has inspired many. Loreen is a true icon in the music industry. Let’s congratulate her on another well-deserved victory in a traditional Eurovision song contest.

The Beauty and Importance of “Euphoria,” Performed in 2012

Loreen performed “Euphoria” in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012. Thomas G:son and Peter Boström wrote the lyrics. The song received 372 points. It went on to become a commercial success in many European countries.

The song is an up-tempo dance-pop track with strong electronic elements. The lyrics are about finding inner strength and letting go of fears and doubts. The song’s signature hook is the word “Euphoria,” which is repeated throughout the chorus.

Loreen’s performance of “Euphoria” at Eurovision was highly praised for its dramatic and emotional impact, featuring elaborate staging and choreography.

The song’s success helped to establish Loreen as a significant figure in the Swedish music industry and a prominent voice in the Eurodance genre. “Euphoria” remains among the most popular and recognizable Eurovision winners ever.

You can watch Euphoria on YouTube.

You may also check her another popular song related to euphoria at this link. It is called Fiction Feels Good and was released in 2020.

The Beauty and Importance of “Tattoo,” Performed in 2023

“Tattoo” is the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. It smashed streaming records. For example, this resource mentions that.

“None of the previous years’ entries were streamed more than 200,000 times the day after being released on Spotify, but Loreen annihilated those numbers by being streamed 375,600 times on Sunday alone! That also meant “Tattoo” went straight to the #1 spot on the Swedish Top 50 chart.”

The song is a downtempo electronic ballad that showcases Loreen’s soulful and emotive vocals. The song's lyrics revolve around the idea of a person’s soul leaving a mark on someone’s life, just like a tattoo.

The song was praised for its introspective and reflective tone, showcasing a different side of Loreen’s artistry compared to her more upbeat and dance-oriented tracks.

The lyrics of the song “Tattoo” suggest that a person’s soul can leave a lasting impression on another person’s life, much like a tattoo on human skin. In this context, the tattoo is a metaphor for the impression and everlasting memory a person leaves on someone else, like a deeply loved one.

These repeated lines, “No, I don’t care about the pain, I’ll walk through fire and through rain Just to get closer to you, You’re stuck on me like a tattoo” suggest that the person is deeply attached to someone and that their presence in their life has left a lasting impact. It reflects an integral part of identity.

I understand that pain is a necessary part of deep love. We cannot run away from it. The song delivers a powerful message of acceptance and the importance of enduring difficult times to grow and develop.

In my perception, the song suggests that the presence of a particular person in someone’s life can leave an indelible mark on their soul and identity. It gives the idea of a permanent mark that cannot be erased or forgotten.

Similarities and Differences between Euphoria and Tattoo.

“Euphoria” and “Tattoo” have captivated audiences with their unique sound and powerful lyrics. While there are some similarities between the two songs, significant differences make each one stand out.

One of the most significant differences between the two songs is their tempo and rhythm.

“Euphoria” is an uptempo dance-pop song with a fast-paced beat and a strong electronic sound. In contrast, “Tattoo” is a slower ballad with a more relaxed tempo and a more organic sound.

Both songs have strong beats. “Euphoria” will likely get people up and dancing as it does to me. However, “Tattoo” is more likely to evoke emotions and touch the listener deeper.

Another difference between the two songs is their lyrics. The lyrics of “Euphoria” are focused on the idea of finding happiness and inner peace. The song encourages listeners to let go of their worries and fears and embrace the joy and beauty of life.

In contrast, the lyrics of “Tattoo” focus more on the idea of love and relationships. The song talks about how love can leave a lasting impression on one’s life, much like a tattoo on the skin.

While both songs have robust and meaningful lyrics, they focus on different themes and ideas.

Despite these differences, there are also some similarities between the performance of the two songs. One of the most notable similarities is how Loreen uses her voice to convey emotion and passion in both songs.

In “Euphoria,” Loreen’s voice soars over the electronic beat, creating a feeling of euphoria and excitement. In “Tattoo,” her voice is more restrained but still conveys longing and passion.

Another similarity between the two songs is the use of imagery and symbolism. In “Euphoria,” Loreen sings about being lifted up and feeling weightless, using imagery to convey the freedom and joy of finding inner peace.

In “Tattoo,” she uses the metaphor of a tattoo to describe how love can leave a lasting impression on our lives, much like a physical tattoo on the skin. It remains a lifetime.

While they have their tempo, lyrics, and theme differences, both songs will captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression on their listeners.

How Euphoria and Tattoo Songs Related to Health and Spirituality

From my interpretations, “Euphoria” and “Tattoo” have strong connections to physical and mental health and spiritual well-being.

In “Euphoria,” the lyrics encourage listeners to let go of their worries and dance like never before. This message of surrendering to the moment and finding joy in movement can significantly benefit physical health.

Dancing is an excellent form of exercise that can improve cardiovascular and cognitive health, flexibility, strength, and mental clarity. It can boost mood and reduce stress, positively impacting mental health.

Furthermore, the lyrics of “Euphoria” touch on the idea of self-discovery and personal growth, which is essential for spiritual well-being.

By letting go of fears and inhibitions, we can connect with our authentic selves and tap into our inner strength.

In “Tattoo,” the concept of leaving a mark on someone’s life is central to the lyrics. This message can be interpreted as the importance of positively impacting others with intimacy and love, which has been linked to improved mental health.

Studies indicate that kindness and helping others can boost mood and self-esteem, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve both physical and mental health.

Additionally, the song’s themes of self-expression and individuality tie in with the concept of authenticity, which is crucial for spiritual well-being.

We can feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment when we are true to ourselves and express our unique personalities and perspectives.

“Euphoria” and “Tattoo” promote messages that benefit physical, mental, and spiritual health. By encouraging listeners to dance, let go of fears, connect with others, and express themselves authentically, these songs can inspire people to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.

How Euphoria and Tattoo Relate to My Writing on Health and Wellness

Euphoria, unlike perceptions, is a beautiful emotion that uplifts our spirit and gives us life satisfaction. Unfortunately, Euphoria in popular media is unfairly associated with man-made and recreational drugs.

I want to erase this perception in my writing. Those drugs create temporary euphoric moments but are not sustainable and harmful to our physical and mental health.

There are much better options, as I discussed and explained in a recent story:

Feeling euphoria is a natural and healthy emotional response that can significantly improve the overall quality of life. It is hard to overdose euphoria with these natural habits. However, like most good things in life, it is crucial to find a balance.

Excessive euphoria can have side effects, such as addiction, and it can also lead to a lack of motivation and focus when dopamine levels go above the threshold (ΔFosB). It is essential to be aware of these potential side effects and to take steps to mitigate them.

How does a tattoo relate to my writing?

As a symbol of permanent memories, I use the tattoo metaphor to level everlasting impressions for crucial messages in my writing.

Here are the ones I want all my readers to add to their long-term memory to take their health and well-being to the next level.

1 — Making the body insulin sensitive and fat-adapted.

2 — Leveraging the power of ketosis, thermogenesis, physical workouts

3 — Managing stress with restorative sleep, a healthy diet, joyful movements, fun, and meaningful social connections

4 — Understanding the tight connection between the body and mind focusing on holistic and integrative health principles.

5 — Taking personal responsibility in all walks of life to find a better version of ourselves from physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual angles.

Importance of Diversity, Inclusion, and Loreen’s Acceptance of LGBTQ+ Community

Reading about Loreen’s biography and what others said about her, I understand that she embrace diversity and inclusion in her life. She bravely shares her personal life in the media. For example:

“Loreen came out as bisexual during an appearance on Swedish TV in 2017, sharing that, in her eyes, “love is where you find it.” She sees sexuality as fluid and an emblem of freedom. The LGBTQ+ community champions that.” [Source]

Loreen has been an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community for a long time. In several interviews, she expressed her strong connection with the community she considers her own.

“That’s the thing with this community, which I would like to call my community. We’re accepting of people. We know what it’s like struggling to try to find yourself. That’s the beauty of struggling sometimes. We feel empathy and understanding. Without this community, I would not be sitting here. Whenever I’m in my community, I would say I feel very much at peace.”

I loved her wide words, “How can you want to stand in the way of this? It won’t work. You can never control a spirit. Don’t waste your time trying to change something that will not change. Back off; live your life. Let people be what they want to be. Can’t you see that this is all love?”

Like Loreen, I support the LGBTQ+ community, giving voice to writers to express their thoughts and feelings in my publication Illumination, which I founded on diversity, inclusion, and collaboration principles. For example, I created a collection of stories covering LGBTQ stories in 2020, highlighting sexual equality.

Some of our editors are also part of the LGBTQ+ community and support our writers to express themselves with ease. For example, our senior editor, The Sturg has written several insightful stories about diversity and inclusion. Interestingly, he also wrote a lengthy post about Eurovision presently.

Loreen’s support and love for the LGBTQ community have been evident in many of her actions. Recently she appeared on Drag Race Sverige, the new Swedish version of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where she accumulated even more “mother” points.

Loreen’s involvement in the LGBTQ community shows evidence of her compassion, empathy, and understanding of the struggles faced by people trying to find themselves.

She acknowledges the importance of acceptance and support in creating a safe and loving space for everyone. Her unwavering support for the LGBTQ community has inspired many.

Supporting disadvantaged people like refugees, her actions speak louder than words. She is a faithful ally who uses her platform to promote love, acceptance, understanding, and compassion for all.

Interestingly as a winner, she never strives to win a competition. She says it is all about music that unites people, as she articulated in this short interview on YouTube.

Conclusions

I only highlight Loreen in my article as both songs relate to my personal and writing life. However, I also liked all the other songs delivered this year.

Of course, all entries can't hit the top three. Contributions matter more than winning for the audience. As Loreen highlights, it is not about competition, but it is the power of music that unites us.

Congratulations to Finland for 2nd place, Israel for 3rd place, and all other artists from various countries for their beautiful performances and entertaining millions globally.

I have been watching Eurovision since its inception and have had the pleasure and honor of one of my lovely friends Sertab Erener winning it in 2003, which gave me many euphoric moments. I hope you enjoy this nostalgic song as much as I do.

Another talented singer, Dami Im, with a beautiful voice from Australia, where I live, delivered a memorable song at Eurovision 2009.

This breathtaking piece is called The Sound of Silence.

I hope you enjoy this remarkable piece too.

Music is a powerful and transformative medium that can elevate our minds, heal our hearts, and uplift our souls. It is a universal language that transcends cultural boundaries and uniquely connects people from all walks of life.

Our brains are hardwired to respond to music. Studies show it positively impacts our mood, emotions, and overall well-being. So let us embrace the power of music and allow it to enrich our lives with joy and satisfaction.

If you watch Eurovision, I’d love to obtain your thoughts and feelings. Please also share your thoughts on the music's meaning in your life in the comments section of this story.

Even though I listen to many kinds of music, from the most esoteric to pop and rock, my favorite type of music is classical, mainly Baroque, which enhances my cognitive abilities. I will share my research on the cognitive aspect of music in another article.
