Top 3 mid-March 2020
Coronavirus is NOT the Only News
There is more to life than fear. We have hope and laughter. My top 3
Every other story on the platform is about coronavirus, or so it seems. Everyone is capitalizing on the hot topic of the day to gain clicks, present company included. But there is more to life than the panic du jour.
I am not making light of what’s going on, but we have been through similar situations before. Who remembers Bird Flu, Swine Flu, Ebola, and Zika? As the old saying goes, “this too, shall pass.” I have always believed in doing what is 100% in your control, and not letting what is beyond it to drag you where you don’t want to go.
Life happens, and there is not much we can do about it. What we control is our reaction to it, what we do in light of what is in front of us. The best thing we can do in any situation is to inform ourselves as best as we can. In this type of health crisis, our most effective strategy is to ensure that we boost and strengthen our immune system.
Knowledge and awareness are your best allies
Debbie Walker had a scare. She went to the doctor and learned a few things she didn’t know, and based on the knowledge gained, she is using awareness of her situation to make amends and draft strategies to make her life better, as best as she can.
Laughter is the best medicine.
Holly Jahangiri joked, recently, with friends, “If I’m writing, drinking a beer, and start to feel a blockage, do I have ‘novel Corona virus’?”
Kim Duke talks about how adding humor and silliness can combat the adverse effects of the situation. That goes for dealing with life’s unexpected blows as well as keeping life enjoyable. Line dance with a dog in your bathrobe, anyone?
Mind over matter
Whether you mind or don’t mind, it matters.
Trudi Griffin, MS, LPC makes a case for how mental focus and grit make all the difference in how you deal with the blows life will deliver in one form or another. We all face situations that can range anywhere from inconvenience to traumatic. How we deal with it makes all the difference. You can be hopeful and optimistic or allow the gravity of the situation to take you down. It’s your choice. What will it be?
The bottom line
Life is. We can get all stressed out about it, or we can stay a little loose and take it easy. In the end, no one is getting out alive, so why not live it up while you can?
