Content Creation In The Age Of ChatGPT & Midjourney
The rise of full-stack creative storytellers
“No, I’m not going to use those creepy tools,” a friend of mine said, clearly shocked by what was happening on the screen in front of her.
I was showing her some of the latest ChatGPT & Midjourney workflows I use, foretelling with euphoric enthusiasm that, very soon, a new guild of full-stack creative storytellers would emerge.
“You mean, anyone will be able to create anything?” she asked me.
“The opposite,” I replied. “Anyone could create anything, but not everyone will have the stubbornness to take full advantage of AI tools.”
Here’s what I think will happen …
Humans Are Lazy
90% of people who start writing a book give up on their noble endeavor before they finish it. To be honest, I’ve never even checked this number, but it kind of illustrates my point:
Everyone has the potential to use their innate ability to think creatively in order to reap economic benefits. But many won’t because it can be very hard and often requires some other innate capacity: stubbornness.
What I’m getting at is: Just because AI tools exist and are available to anybody that doesn’t automatically mean people will use them to their full potential. However, a few will do so, and those are the people who will stun us in the near future with content that is entertaining and thought-provoking, far beyond what we’re used to.

Artists Are Easy To Scare
Remember when there was a similar fear when DSLR cameras and YouTube tutorials threatened to turn everyone into an indie film mastermind?
Well, that did not happen.
Most people are fine these days with Snapchat filters and Insta-stories.
Fair enough.
However, some people did spend nights sitting in front of YouTube videos with their iPhones, looking for ways to capture cinematic footage with a smartphone camera, construction lights, and homemade boom sticks.
Artists, especially if they’ve been working in a particular field for a while, tend to be easily scared by the possibilities of new technology entering their creative habitats.
Often their fear is exaggerated.
And the fear of AI is no different. Or is it?
Fear and blessing of AI
In the near future, there will be industries where it will be difficult to succeed unless you use AI technology to improve your content.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe that a hundred years from now people will still be painting with brushes, making music by moving their limbs, and writing with pens until carpal tunnel syndrome sets in.
But I do also believe there will be a new breed of artists: full-stack creative storytellers who take advantage of AI tools to go beyond what we thought was possible.
Some of them will be driven by unbridled curiosity.
Some of them will be driven by the brutal transformation in their industry or the upheaval of social conventions.
Whatever the case, they will turn to AI to push boundaries. To excel, or escape.
And they will surprise us all.
I’m already looking forward to that.
