THURSDAY’S FEATURED POSTS
Coffee Times Weekly Roundup — 7
Thursday’s picks from here and elsewhere on Medium
¡Hola! my dear readers — I am bursting with all kinds of fun stuff to tell you today! Let me start with the biggest announcement!
CONTEST ALERT! ⏲
Winston just announced a most interesting contest (there’s $50 in it for you if you win!). Grab the details here and start writing! Don’t forget to check the rules!
And no sooner was the contest announced than the support and response have started to pour in! Writers who are not part of Coffee Times yet are already writing about the challenge and talking about why they support the shoutout. Isn't that great?
Proof that Coffee Times is more than a publication. It is a movement indeed ❤
Ah, now that I’ve got that off my chest, the next great announcement is that I baked two massive banana walnut cakes this evening. Okay — nobody wants to know I guess!
Moving on . . .
Featured posts from Coffee Times
Let’s begin this week’s roundup with Hudson Rennie’s sweet life lessons where he compares life to a box of chocolates. He’s also nice enough to apologize at the end of his post for making you eat too much chocolate and recommends that you drink water and run for “ 3 years, 2 months, 14 days, and 16 hours” quoting Forrest Gump. Enjoy!
In her post, Niall Leah talks about the importance of practice if you want to be perfect and goes on to explain how not to practice, and how it is not how long you spend practicing something. It’s how you practice that makes the most significant impact.
Stories of kindness, especially from strangers are the sweetest of all. Mulan’s story of how a bus driver in Vienna helped is a heartwarming read.
Have you ever been afraid to honestly say what you want in life? In her inspiring post, T Mann asks: If we do not give our desires an identity, how will we ever know when we achieve it? She then goes on to tell you how.
We have heard that laughter is the best medicine for most ailments. Dina Alexander clearly believes this too as she describes in her post and encourages you to laugh more, worry less. I have to agree!
It takes a special kind of strength to own up to one’s weaknesses and embrace them. Margoux Castro demonstrates this in her post. She says that every moment is a learning experience — be it through a mistake or someone teaching us.
As a big fan of travel and in particular solo travel, I thoroughly enjoyed Suma Narayan’s account of her visit to the beautiful Golden Temple in Amritsar and her experience with paragliding. It was like a mini-vacation!
Dharan.M’s post about why he is grateful for the taste of bitter in response to Yana Bostongirl’s Know Thyself prompt is such a pleasant read — with a photo of my favorite vegetable right on top!
Across Medium
I hope Jane Frost (Jane Grows Garden Rooms) will join Coffee Times very soon. Her wonderful post about how shouting out makes winners of us all made me so happy!
And somehow, in the same vein — community-building — I have to share Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她)’s post about soft-launching a book and getting sales without ever promoting it — more proof that there’s strength in supporting one another. Lucy is someone who is always lifting other writers up!
Another extremely supportive writer on Medium is David Perlmutter. He’s everywhere, busy highlighting posts and applauding. I have a special ask on his behalf. The people at Read.Freely have nominated “Orthicon” as one of the 100 Top Indie books of 2021 in the SciFi category. Would you please visit the link below and vote for his book? (you may have to click twice, but it will only take a couple of seconds).
Ever wondered what a blue moon is? And whether the blue moon is really blue? Read Quy Ma’s post to find out!
Ashley Richmond’s posts are filled with invaluable health advice. In this post, she shares her experience with intermittent fasting — it is a cautionary tale about the dangers of fasting.

A couple of weeks back, we started a brand new column “Know Thyself” which is being managed by our editor Yana Bostongirl. Have you checked it out?
Have you seen Marrisa W.’s latest book prompts?
In her Travel column, Sharing Randomly has a lovely prompt in which you’ll find writing inspiration.
…this week’s prompt is an homage to those new travel buddies. Have you had any similar experiences? Have you gotten to know someone amazing along your journey? Where were you? What did you learn from them? Did they change your trip?
As usual, Drashti Shroff’s has been busy showcasing Coffee Times writers by interviewing them — visit the Interviews tab to get to know your fellow writers better!
And that’s it for this week’s roundup.

I love Medium and the wonderful writers I engage with. Currently, the Medium Partner Program is not open to writers based in India. One of the reasons I write is to support underprivileged children. Would you consider buying me a cup of coffee? Thank you so much!
