Meeting That Special New Someone
When Strangers Become Friends
Traveling is not only to experience the place but also to appreciate the people you travel with and the ones you meet along your journey. That’s another marvel of a true trip. If you only stay within your group, is that considered traveling? Open your mind! Don’t be shy!
I always try to engage with other people, local or with more tourists! Either way, I know it will be more fun. You can learn so much from anyone! If you have learned from this writing community, imagine being face-to-face.
There is one trip that lingers on my mind. My high school friends and I went to take a course abroad, we were like 20! You could sense the emotion, the excitement, a new experience was coming forth! Everybody was so eager to explore something new.
The best part was that we enlisted in an international school and man were there people from all over the world! It was as if someone had picked a handful of people from every country and put them in one place. It was to that extreme!
It was a tremendous experience. I am truly grateful to be able to have had such happenings in my life. No matter the age, you can learn from everybody: you can learn from their backgrounds, their beliefs, their passions, and their culture. Just imagine, it was a multi-national concussion of conversations going on daily.
Of course, shyness can crawl into you while talking to a strange, even embarrassment but take that leap! You will never know what you are missing out on until you try it out. You may find strangers that will turn into friends! Give them a chance. I know that it’s worth it.
And trust me, if you meet a local, they will gladly help you around! I am always grateful when a tourist comes and asks me for the best places to go to, they are ultimately appreciating the place I live in. So local people can guide you to the best recreational spots, hotels, parks, or even invite you to eat a true local cuisine. So many opportunities can be open.
Many of you have shared some journeys where you have decided to go backpacking alone and take that brave step to travel. Other writers have shared that they have traveled with others and further on had increased their travel group as the days go by. As I clicked on these pieces, I read how you have made friends along the path and have had an experience of a lifetime. We all have to appreciate these traveling friends!
With this being said, this week’s prompt is an homage to those new travel buddies. Have you had any similar experiences? Have you gotten to know someone amazing along your journey? Where were you? What did you learn from them? Did they change your trip?
I hope the section above can serve you for inspiration to create your own article… it can be a poem, essay, short-form; whatever your preference is.
If you want to join in on the fun and participate in this prompt, don’t forget to add “Travel Series” as your Kicker and “Travel” as your tag, another tag will be Coffee Times Movement.
Don’t forget to tag me (adding this article) and also invite other writers. A shoutout of another piece is also a must. Let’s spread the joy of writing and reading!
For this prompt, I would also like to tag the following Coffee Times writers.
T Mann | Hannah LaDuke | Travis Truong | Esther George | Justiss Goode| Suma Narayan | Elvie Lins | Roselyn Violet | J. L Wallace | Yan Huang
