If You Really Want It, You Better Damn Well Own It!
Shout out to the world and tell them what you want to be.

Anaya Nosso recently wrote an interesting article about believing in yourself, in The Shortform that got me thinking.
One of her lines that caught my attention was,
And, the first step to pursuing a forbidden desire is to name it.
She nailed it.
We are often afraid to honestly say what we want in life or what we want to accomplish. We are so scared to step forward, own our desires, and give them a name and say it out loud.
But what are we really afraid of?
- Afraid of the looks and sneers of those who do not believe in us?
- Afraid of not reaching our goal?
- Afraid of facing our family and friends if we fail?
If we do not give our desires an identity, how will we ever know when we achieve it?
Everything needs a name. Give your goal a name, and then say it out loud. Tell the world, your neighbor, or at least your cat what you want out of life.
Then study what it is you want. Get to know your heart’s desire inside and out. Learn everything about what it means to achieve this goal and how it will affect your life.
Now say it out loud again—this time to a friend or co-worker.
Next, make a plan. Identify the steps needed to reach your goal and lay out a road map to achieving it.
Say it out loud again — to a close friend or family member.
Take the first step in your plan, and then plan the next day and the next.
Now say it out loud to everyone you know.
Name it! Own it!
Make it yours!
No one is going to serve it up on a silver platter. You and you alone are the only people who can make your dreams a reality. Now make it happen.
