Clouds
A Poem for the Spiritual Tree prompt: ‘Unconditional Love’
I remember I was lying in the sand, endlessly watching the passing clouds. While bathing in the sun pondering what it all would be like … A young girl’s life filled with promising expectations.
That moment I wondered about the future to be, daydreaming about the love I would meet. With whom I would one day create my idyllic family … A young heart’s vision on the course of unconditional love.
As I came home I asked my mother: ‘Mother, what do you see in the buttermilk sky? A whale, a bear, many sheep to count or maybe an angel?’ My mother answered with a tender dewy-eyed smile …
‘Dear child, you may not comprehend it now, the chain of generations I see in the evanescent skies. You’re still such an epitome of pure open-mindedness, not yet corrupted by the nebulosity of the adult world …
You see, my child, life is like a paradox, a connection with the transcendent through the transient white clouds. What we see in these formations we try to put into words, in order to grasp our perpetual uncharted reality.
When I look into the pale blue sky, with a corona of fluffy white clouds overhead, the miracles that have become words eventually withdraw from that grip. After all, what is more volatile than a cloud transiting steadily, without anyone being able to influence its course?
How beautiful, oh how beautiful are those passing clouds, How beautiful? Only Heaven knows how … Continuous formation of the most beautiful constellations, solely to be blown away by a whiff of the wind?’.
Years passed by where the skies were blessing my life, my heart full of love in its purest form. When suddenly my youngster asked me about the clouds passing by, and forthwith the veil of my mother’s word was lifted.
Time stood still while my heart disappeared behind the clouds, realizing the consequence of the wheel of cyclic existence. It is one thing to face reality in beautiful infinity … but to be unable to comfort you in your true moment of death…?
My child, I would unconditionally die for you once more instead.
Stay safe and be well! 💕
