blue

A short story by Ernio Hernandez

Ernio stood on the sand, looking out over the ocean.

His wife and daughter watched near the water’s edge as the waves came in.

The younger days he spent looking out over the river came to mind.

Memories also rolled in of being at the beach with friends — including the one who (yes, on a beach) became his wife.

There is always something at once humbling and haunting — a true blue — about the place where the open sky shares the eye with the deep sea.
