According to a Nintendo Leaker, There Could Be a Donkey Kong Game in the Works
A well-known Nintendo leaker has hinted at the possibility of a new Donkey Kong game.

But today, I’m diving into some juicy gossip about a possible new Donkey Kong game, all thanks to a famous Nintendo insider. So, let’s spill the beans!
So, here’s the scoop. Pyoro, that cool cat known for spilling the beans on Nintendo’s upcoming games, just dropped another breadcrumb for us hungry gamers. This time, it’s all about Donkey Kong, baby! Pyoro’s got a pretty solid track record when it comes to this stuff.
I mean, they practically nailed it with their hints about the Super Mario RPG remake and that slick new 2D Mario platformer. Remember when we were all buzzin’ about those games before they dropped at the June 2023 Nintendo Direct?
Oh, and let’s not forget the other gems they called out, like Everybody 1–2 Switch and Sonic Superstars. Pyoro’s like our gaming oracle, man.
So, the other day, Pyoro hit us with another juicy hint on Twitter. They’d already spilled the beans about a Donkey Kong game popping up in the next Nintendo Direct, and now they’re keeping the hype train rollin’. But wait, there’s more!
Rumor has it that this Nintendo Direct could be happening smack in the middle of September. You know, just in time for the Tokyo Game Show 2023. Nintendo’s usually all about dropping a Direct right before that big show. But hey, don’t get too jacked up just yet ’cause it’s not officially confirmed.
But Pyoro, our info ninja, has been dishing out the deets on what games might get the spotlight at this supposed Direct. The latest hint they threw our way suggests we might be in for a new Mario vs. Donkey Kong game. Yeah, you heard that right! Mario, our mustached hero, and Donkey Kong, the big barrel-tossing dude, go head-to-head once again.
So, the day after Pyoro’s first hint about the September Nintendo Direct, they went all cryptic on us. They started dropping tweets with scenes from that Super Mario Bros. movie we saw earlier this year. First, there was a GIF of Donkey Kong, just rollin’ around like it’s nobody’s business. And then, the caption talked about “who he’s fighting.”
You know, just teasin’ us a bit. Then, bam! They hit us with a still from the Mario vs. Donkey Kong fight scene from the movie. That’s when it hit us: Pyoro’s pointing at a new Mario vs. Donkey Kong game, not some newfangled platformer like Donkey Kong Country.
But wait, there’s more to this tale. Someone on Twitter, Supahsta, popped the big question, asking if this game would have those cute collectible minis we love. You know, those little toys from the mini subseries. And Pyoro, in all their wisdom, dropped the confirmation bomb. Yup, those minis are making a comeback.
So, it’s looking like we’re in for another puzzle-platformer showdown between the OG Nintendo rivals. You know, where Donkey Kong’s usually the bad guy, and you’re juggling those mini Mario toys. Classic showdown vibes, man!
Now, not everyone in the Nintendo fandom was doing backflips of joy over this news. Some folks seemed a bit underwhelmed, considering the last game in the series, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, didn’t exactly set the world on fire back in 2015. But hey, let’s not rain on Pyoro’s parade just yet.

They’ve been pretty on point with their leaks so far. Still, it’s probably smart to keep that grain of salt handy until we get the official word on either the next Nintendo Direct or this new Donkey Kong game.
