Summary

A writer is embarking on a new challenge to post 20 articles in 30 days, aiming to increase income and follower count, and has set specific rules and goals for this endeavor.

Abstract

The author has previously completed a 30-day writing challenge and found it successful, but their writing has since diminished. To reignite their writing passion and discipline, they have pledged to write and publish 20 articles within 30 days. This new challenge is designed to be less intense than the previous one, with flexible publication choices, a daily writing commitment, and a headstart from existing drafts. The writer also plans to create custom images for half of the articles to maintain aesthetic consistency, similar to another writer they admire. The goals for this challenge include increasing monthly income from 141.27 to at least 200 and growing their follower count from 585 to 700. The articles are being published across various Medium publications, with several already released and linked in the content.

A New Medium Challenge- 20 Stories in 30 Days

Let’s get ready to party!

I really love a good challenge. So when David Majister originally started this 30-day challenge a couple of months ago, I eagerly wrote my pledge post so I could get on board.

And it was more successful than I had anticipated.

Unfortunately, my writing has waned a bit since I completed the challenge in March. I think mostly because I wanted to take a break. Although, it’s ceased so much that I think I need to start a new challenge to get back in the groove.

Albeit, a slightly less crazy challenge.

My pledge

Last time I pledged to post 30 different stories to 30 different publications over 30 days.

My new pledge is to post 20 articles over the next 30 days.

A few notes on my challenge:

  • I chose 20 articles because I thought that I would have 1 article per weekday (with a slight cheat that I am counting this post as my first article ;) ). I got burnt out last time, so I want something that will be a challenge, but still achievable.
  • I will allow myself to post to any publication I like. This is simply because I have about 5 publications that I absolutely love writing for, and I want to give myself free rein to write for those pubs as many times as I like.
  • I need to write a little bit every day. Last time I took a couple of days off here and there, which resulted in me falling behind. I aim to at least write for 20 minutes every evening.
  • I already have 5 half-written drafts waiting for me to finish and outlines for 4 more stories, so I am giving myself a headstart. I recommend planning out several stories before embarking on a Medium challenge to kick it off.
  • I also want to create my own images for 10 of my articles like Amardeep Parmar. He mostly alters images for his articles so they have a similar aesthetic. If you see his profile, there’s consistency. I think adding my own to all 20 articles will be too difficult, which is why I chose 10.

My Goals

  1. Income: My April income was $141.27. This month I hope to make at least $200
  2. Follower count: I am starting this month on a follower count of 585. I hope that by the end of the month, I’ll have at least 700 followers.

I’ll have all of my posts listed down here as they are published.
