Summary

Diana C. shares her spiritual journey through two tanka poems inspired by Hermann Hesse's "Siddhartha," reflecting on the importance of inner discovery, the alignment of soul and human desires, and the wisdom found within the unconscious mind.

Abstract

Diana C.'s 30-Day Poetry Challenge entries for days 5 and 6 delve into the profound insights she gained following her spiritual awakening. Drawing from the wisdom of Hermann Hesse's "Siddhartha," she emphasizes the significance of perceiving synchronicities, overcoming confirmation bias, and the importance of discernment in decision-making. Her poems and reflections explore the concept that one's soul encompasses the entire world, suggesting that true wisdom and answers to life's questions are found within. She advocates for a harmonious balance between human wants and soulful spirituality, akin to the integration and alignment of the ego with spiritual growth. Through prayer, meditation, and conscious contact with a higher power, she believes in the endless capacity for expansion and wisdom that resides in the unconscious mind.

“Your Soul Is the Whole World”

Day 5: The keys to discovering the answers you seek

Transformative signs Spiritual decoding Impulse resonates Discernment confirmation Alignment defeats bias

Cipher Key

On the heels of my spiritual awakening, I began to perceive an abundance of synchronicities — signals from the universe via breadcrumbs of various shapes and forms to lead me to my path — “meaningful coincidences” in the words of Carl Jung. When an interpretation resonated with me, I would jump to that conclusion — confirmation bias.

“When someone seeks,” said Siddhartha, “then it easily happens that his eyes see only the thing that he seeks, and he is able to find nothing, to take in nothing because he always thinks only about the thing he is seeking, because he has one goal, because he is obsessed with his goal. Seeking means: having a goal. But finding means: being free, being open, having no goal.” ― Herman Hesse, Siddhartha

I noticed that Rama never used the word “resonate.” I noticed that a manipulative channeler used that word (not Ane, Ane is wonderful). Rama used the words “discern” or “discernment” and counseled me to stay in the process till I achieved that with respect to a decision/determination.

This past October I wrote the following to my teenage children:

The important thing that I can impart to you now is to learn to look within. You already know every answer you need in life. Be patient, sit with decisions until they not only seem right but feel right. Trust your gut. There is a difference between doubts in your head and feelings in your gut. There is a difference between being nervous in your gut and something really not feeling right in your gut. You will need to discern for yourself how to discern those differences; everybody is different. I can help you when you are trying to tell the difference if you come to me for help. I can guide you but the ultimate decision would have to be yours. It’s fine to make mistakes. I just hope you recognize mistakes way earlier than I have.

From this recent recap of my spiritual journey:

The ego does not die. It evolves. I evolve. I integrate and align. … There are a yin and yang to life’s purpose. There are human wants and soul wants. Life will be harmonious when those two are aligned. Life’s purpose is to learn, and one aspect is learning how to satisfy the human wants while not offending the soul’s spirituality. That is alignment.

“Our whole trouble had been the misuse of willpower. We tried to bombard our problems with it instead of attempting to bring it into agreement with God’s intention for us.” — From the discussion of Step Three in Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions

Day 6: What dwells within the unconscious mind?

All of Creation occupies my unconscious awaiting contact Expansion capacity Soul’s wisdom knows no limit

Decoder Ring

“Wisdom cannot be imparted. Wisdom that a wise man attempts to impart always sounds like foolishness to someone else … Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom. One can find it, live it, do wonders through it, but one cannot communicate and teach it.” ― Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

“Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.” — Step Eleven as written in Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions

From my 2013 self-portrait:

Meredith explained that the conflict was not between my conscious and subconscious, but between my mind and my soul.

From my 2020 self-portrait:

In 2013 I had a cognitive belief in souls, but I didn’t own it, nor deeply understand it. Now I own it. I stated above that Lindsey’s death catalyzed my Awakening. Awakening / Awareness is when the conscious mind becomes aware that the soul resides in the unconscious mind and that there is a separateness.

“Your soul is the whole world.” ― Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

“To your soul To your soul Cry Cry Cry

You leave in the morning with everything you own in a little black case Alone on a platform, the wind and the rain on a sad and lonely face

Mother will never understand why you had to leave But the answers you seek will never be found at home The love that you need will never be found at home” — Bronski Beat Smalltown Boy
