3 Signs You’re an Old Soul and This Isn’t Your First Rodeo
There’s a strange longing to go home

1. You Feel Like An Outsider
The concept of old souls is inspired by the idea that we’ve been here before. Our souls reincarnate many times and our bodies are merely just vessels to contain an eternal soul. An old soul continues to reincarnate to learn, heal, and complete karmic lessons.
You’re an old soul if you find that you’ve been alone and isolated since the day you arrived here on earth. You never really fit in. This solitary existence isn’t something you chose or asked for. It’s just how it’s always been, no matter how hard you tried to fit in.
You find yourself alone most of the time, not because you’re antisocial but because you struggle to connect deeply with others.
Others are not interested in the soulful things you want to talk about and you are not interested in the shallow things they won’t stop talking about.
You find it so hard to relate with people.
You long and pray to find your tribe. This longing is often accompanied by the thirst to go back home, even when you’re home.
You often feel like an outsider looking in and as if you don’t belong here. That sometimes makes you feel sad. It makes you feel alienated, and this is one of the few downsides of being an old soul.
Your outlook on life is different from those around you. You live your life from the inside out and walk your own solitary path while others do their own thing.
You also find yourself alone sometimes because you choose to be alone.
As an old soul, you have a gift of empathy. You are a highly sensitive person. You’re very much attuned to the emotions of others and to the energy of your surroundings that you become like a sponge and you walk around absorbing dense energies. This may be because you may also be a transmuter lightworker and it’s your mission to absorb and process dense energies, but this can be difficult nonetheless. As an empath, you need more time to yourself to recharge and clear energies from yourself that you’ve absorbed from your surroundings.
Others might see you as distant, anti-social or reserved because of this, but that’s not always the case. Sometimes all this absorption of dense energies can take a toll on you and you need time alone to work on yourself to bring yourself back to balance.
You find it more comfortable to observe others than interact to avoid being overwhelmed by the noise and energies you absorb. You need space and time to be alone to recharge your batteries and so you’re drawn things like to meditation and solitude.
Although you’ve gotten used to your own company, you crave to find your people. You know you can’t be the only old soul out here and so you’re always searching for other old souls like yourself who want to talk about big things and other free, kindred spirits who can accept you just the way you are.
2. You Lead a Simple Lifestyle
As an old soul, you’re aware of how fast time is going. One minute you're reincarnating and being born and the next, you're back in the spirit realm going over your life and contemplating if you must go back.
You know how easy it is to feel overwhelmed and exhausted by it all, so you make sure you lead a simple and balanced lifestyle that makes things simple when the end comes.
You’re grounded in yourself, and you're not so worried about superficial things. You don't care so much about material things.
Keeping up with current fashions and trends may not interest you. Where others are fussing about their hair, nails, eyebrows and makeup, you’re wondering what the fuss is about.
Your focus isn’t on things money can buy. You aren’t tied down by material possessions. You care less about designer and brand names. Your worth is not based on how expensive your phone or purse is.
Your focus is on things money can’t buy like knowledge, wisdom, peace, love, and compassion. Your worth is based on how open your mind is and how big your heart is.
While you have a few cherished belongings, you’re not attached to those things. You know they can be taken away and when the end comes; you take none of them with you.
You don’t hold on to items just for the sake of having them. You don’t struggle to let go of them, either. When an item no longer serves you or you no longer need them, you find it easy to let go of them. You’re drawn to minimalism and other minimalistic attitudes.
You see that life is bigger than materialism. You crave simplicity. You see a certain beauty, purity, and zen-like feel to a simple lifestyle.
Instead of seeking money or chasing after material possessions, you long for a sense of purpose, true meaning, inner fulfilment and peace that money, power, fame and success can’t buy. You pray for just enough money to meet your basic needs and just enough to help you to serve others.
3. You See the Bigger Picture
From an early age, you may have been told you’re wise beyond your years.
You’re a visionary and a dreamer, and you bear the burden of wanting to change the world for the better, but you know you can’t do it all on your own. You do the best you can when you’re called to do it.
You see the bigger picture and are more likely to do things your way. You're also more likely to go at your own pace.
To those around you, you seem like a little rebel, as you won’t do what society expects of you. Even though you can be rebellious, you’re not one to act without thinking. You’re not reckless at all. You understand that with every action, there is a reaction and so you think things through before you do them and when things don't go as you planned, you're quick to change your perspective.
When bad things happen, even though it hurts, you don’t see it as the end of the world. You don’t see it as the worst thing to ever happen. You look at them differently and they change.
You see everything as part of a much bigger plan and even though it may not make sense now; you know it will when it's all said and done.
Because you come into this life with more experience and understanding, you’re able to handle obstacles and challenges with greater clarity. You know and trust that every single thing will pass, so you avoid getting attached or getting too fixated on things.
You focus on the bigger picture instead of dwelling on the small details.
You live your life unaffected by the small stuff. You’ve mastered how to let things roll off your back.
You’re less likely to be triggered by certain things and when you do get triggered, you waste no time addressing what needs to be healed.
You still get angry and disappointed from time to time because you're human, but after some time has passed and you feel what you feel, you're able to let things go.
You don’t sweat the small stuff. You strive to find the wisest and most meaningful way to spend your time and you don’t do it worrying. You’ve seen how pointless worry is. It never solved a single one of your problems.
You prefer to look at life from a bird's-eye view, seeing things others are missing. After all, life can end at any moment, so why waste time on things that don’t matter?
Also — You Love To Learn
As an old soul, there’s a feeling that you’ve been here before and that this isn’t your first rodeo. This feeling is often accompanied by high intelligence, a sharp intuition, keen insight and a gift of understanding.
Old souls come into this life with an agenda to learn and experience as many things as possible.
As a child, your favourite subject was probably all of them. It didn't matter what you were to study, you just loved to learn in general.
You have a curious mind about what happens in and around you.
You see that learning is an essential part of your soul’s journey. How else would your solve evolve? You prioritize truth and wisdom over everything.
But being an old soul has its ups and downs.
It's amazing being a lifelong learner and being able to see the bigger picture. It's good to not have to worry about the material things and instead focus on the important things in life. But it doesn't feel very good feeling like an outsider all the time. It can really hurt sometimes.
It can suck a lot, but it won’t feel as lonely when you surround yourself with like-minded people. It may be hard finding your people, but trust that they are out there. You weren’t meant to experience another lifetime, mostly in isolation. You came to have a different experience. What you seek is seeking you, so don’t give up the search.
Find your people and have some fun.
You're too wise for your age, but that doesn't mean you can’t have a little bit of fun. Life isn't all about learning. It’s also about fun and play. The inner child still lives within you and needs to come out to play.
Bring a little lightness into your life by finding the balance between wisdom and lightheartedness. Take delight in the mundane and bring a playful energy to your life.
This will help you thrive during your short time here on earth. Before you know it, you’ll be back home and itching to return to live life to the fullest.
You are spiritually wise, so allow yourself to live and experience life to the fullest, starting today. And have no worries as you play because, as an old soul, you’re destined for greatness.
