3 Signs You May Have The Gift of Prophecy

Your sons and daughters shall prophesy

1. You Want to Prophesy

It’s common for those in the early stages of having a spiritual gift to question whether they truly have the gift or whether they’re making it all up in their heads. But it’s important to know that you will not be gifted with something you do not desire.

It is the desire that ushers in the gift.

Don’t be deceived and robbed of your gift. Many people will tell you that God no longer has prophets or has no use for prophets. God has always found people to share his intimate secrets with and that will never change because God is unchanging.

God still has his prophets and prophetesses. This is only because God is merciful.

The gift of prophecy is an expression of God’s mercy. Prophecy is for the people. It brings comfort to people.

God has his chosen prophets but you would never know as the true prophets of God don’t walk around calling themselves such. They do not boast of their calling. Instead, they walk quietly in their calling.

Everybody can prophesy because God is everywhere.

Your sons and daughters shall prophesy especially the pure little ones. They prophesy every day and if you’re willing to hear it, it's the purest form of prophecy.

God’s duty is to speak. Yours is to position yourself to hear God’s voice if you desire to prophesy what God is saying.

You will not be gifted with something you do not desire.

2. You Breathe The Word

There are many kinds of prophets for many gods of this world but a true prophet of God believes in God and his every word. They live the word, breathe the word, and eat the words of God.

This is a requirement for all of God’s prophets.

They have stored the words in their hearts so they can weigh it against everything that is presented to them.

A prophet will naturally want to protect the words and the nature of God.

Prophets are deep in the understanding of the word. They are skilful in handling and interpreting the word of God without being taught by man. They are taught by a person and that’s the Spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit is the prophets’ first teacher when it comes to learning the truths and the mysteries of God and the universe.

For most prophets, the Holy Spirit will lead them to the wilderness and other solitary places to teach them things not so they can preach in a church but so they can teach those they cross paths with.

In the word of God, they find truths and are able to unravel the mysteries of the universe that sets the hearts of men free.

Prophets live the word, breathe the word, and eat the words of God.

3. You’re After God's Heart

A prophet will look up to the mountains not because the mountain is the source of strength but because God created the mountain. They will look up at the night sky and adore the starry hosts not because the stars and the moon can provide guidance but because of the One who created the stars and the moon.

A true prophet lives and cares for one thing and one thing most importantly — God. They don't care who laughs. They don't care who mocks, persecutes, or who doesn't care. They care who is watching from behind the scenes.

A true prophet seeks after God’s heart. They want to win God’s heart. They want to love God and please God and honor God and worship and praise and adore. They want to be validated and approved not by man but by God.

A true prophet of God knows nor worships any other gods. They keep no idols in their heart nor place anyone or anything on a pedestal. They seek no wisdom, knowledge or insight from any other means other than the teaching of the Holy Spirit.

They live for God.

True prophets live to be used as a vessel to deliver God’s messages. They live on every word of God and thrive on music that extols God.

Anything that draws them closer to God, they go after because they’re after God’s heart.

A true prophet lives and cares for one thing and one thing most importantly — God.

Also — You’ve Walked in The Wilderness

A person who has been called to prophesy will pass through the wilderness. There are no other ways. They will go through the most difficult times through tests, trials, tribulations and temptations where there will have no one else but God.

And it's not without reason.

You must walk through the wilderness so you can help others get through it. When you walk through it, you learn the way. You know the path and so you can help others walk through it.

Your wilderness season is not without purpose. It's empowering you for the work you're getting ready to do. It's strengthening you for when you have to walk people through difficult times.

Times are difficult which is why prophets are needed. People are suffering. People are in pain and need to know what God has to say about the state of the world.

Don’t believe those who say God has no use for prophets. Don’t let the enemy make you feel unworthy of such a calling. Don’t feel forsaken or abandoned as you run from dangerous beasts in the wilderness.

Stand by what you know to be true. You’re always protected even if you walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

You are called and chosen to prophesy so open your mouth and let God speak to the world through you. This is a gift not just for you, but for all of God’s people.

Stand by your gifts.

Open your mouth and prophesy. Take your pen and write down your prophecies. Make those declarations and do it boldly.

God is speaking to us through you. You are the mouthpiece of God.

If you’ve had difficulties in some part of your life and it makes no sense; if you’re after God’s heart and love him more than you love the world; if you live, breathe, and eat God’s words, this may be a sign that you are spiritually gifted. A gift that was delivered by the Holy Spirit himself because you’re worthy of the gift.
