13 Life-Changing Micro Habits to Attract Spiritual Freedom in Less Than A Year
#4. Stop feeding yourself spiritual bullsh*t.

To gain something big, you always have to start small and right.
20 years back, when I started my spiritual journey, I had no guidance or support. I was shooting arrows in the dark and hoping to get things right.
Experimenting with meditation techniques, visiting spiritual retreats, and reading books. Yet my growth did not exponentially grow until I met my spiritual mentors.
Under their guidance, I knew exactly what to do and how. Within a very short span, I could see a massive difference in my life. The chaos left me, and silence graced its presence effortlessly.
1. Never estimate you are done.
Most people assume they are done when they have a little spiritual experience and immense sh*tty knowledge.
Spirituality is garbage if you understand it without experience.
Last week my friend said, “Theoretically, I know many deep things. But I’ve not experienced anything yet.”
This is a statement of a genuine seeker who knows they are not done yet.
Be vigilant towards the spiritual ego that can pull you down quickly.
My spiritual mentor often says, “You must be extra alert as you step towards spiritual freedom. Because those who have just started their journey will fall a short distance. But those who are nearing their spiritual freedom would fall too big.”
You are never done until the ‘you’ (the doer) dies.
2. Stop cursing if you feel life failed you or you slipped spiritually.
A famous quote by Ratan Tata says,
“Ups and downs in life are very important to keep us going because a straight line in ECG also means you are not living.”
Likewise, spirituality also has many challenges.
You may never know when chaos will strike and when utter peace will bless.
So if you feel you’ve tumbled down, don’t enter the curse cycle.
- Stop blaming yourself.
- Stop blaming life.
- Stop accusing spirituality of being too hard.
Instead, watch your failures like you celebrate your success.
Both failure and success are two parts of a coin. Your thoughts and stories make you miserable or joyful.
And spirituality creates a distance between your true self and your stories.
3. Hang around with spiritually minded people.
Before meeting my spiritual mentor, I was a loner. My thought process seemed weird.
After meeting spiritually-minded people, I discovered how this world functions on fakeness.
Rarely are people true to their spiritual growth. Most people run behind temporary satisfaction and endless desires.
Shiny techniques of healing and manifestation blur their path of true self-discovery.
Your close circle determines how fast you’ll achieve your spiritual freedom. And your genuine or fake efforts will decide your inner circle.
Both are interlinked.
Develop a close circle of spiritually minded people who are genuine.
4. Stop feeding yourself spiritual bullsh*t.
Much bullsh*t is served in the name of spirituality.
The reason is you.
Why?
Because you encourage your social media feed to fill your greedy lust with more information. You often trap yourself in the glowing false shields.
Understanding spiritual garbage does not make you spiritually intelligent. But experiencing oneness and silence does that.
If you genuinely desire spiritual freedom, stop wasting time and energy on so-called spiritual knowledge.
My spiritual mentor would often say, “Ignorance leads you to darkness. But knowledge without experience leads you to pitch darkness.”
No twin soul, past life, vivid dreams, out-of-body, manifestation, or healing magic can cure your decaying emotions.
However, you can shine the light of consciousness to heal you and move forward with no baggage.
5. Meditate at the same time every day without a break.
When I started meditation, it was to calm myself during those moments. I didn’t know it would make my whole life peaceful if given a direction.
One of the most common myths about meditation is that it is about focus or a technique.
No, it neither.
It is the silence that automatically happens after any technique.
Your daily sitting at a particular time will create a knack for you to slip into meditative moments effortlessly.
Initially, it would seem difficult to sit for longer times.
But with practice, it’d become as simple as breathing. You inhale calmness and exhale peace.
The ultimate goal of meditation is to convert your whole life meditative.
6. Cultivate your heart with creative acts.
Human minds are dumb. It can only churn out old information and regurgitate the new mixture proudly.
But the heart is a gold mine. It is the seat of infinite wisdom.
Look at a child. His mind is still underdeveloped in terms of the world. But within the heart, the child is already fully blossomed. That is why a child remains happy no matter what.
But we, as a society, systematically crush it.
Instead, learn from a child.
Break open your stony heart. Cultivate it with creative acts.
Do what you feel good about without feeling ashamed.
Spirituality is a daring act.
Why?
Because it is a backward journey from a smart mind to an innocent heart.
A route away from what society teaches you. A journey where no one will support you. A path where you will be alone and made to feel weird.
Only a courageous person can dive into its deep water.
Support your heart to go against the world. Reinforce your heart to question everything.
Nurture its genuineness so that it helps you to stand where you have to take one.
7. Bond with nature.
I was born and raised in a metropolitan city. I studied and worked there till the COVID strike.
I shifted my base to the foothills of the Himalayas. Not because of some spiritual inclination but because of my ancestral homeplace.
The standard of living is by far the richest in the village. No metropolitan city can ever compare to it.
Fresh air with zero pollution. Lush green jungle in the backyard. The nonstop songs of birds. The hide-and-seek game of clouds and sun.
You may not have jungles. But nature is everywhere.
Natural grass, soil, breeze, and sunsets bless every place. Even half an hour of sitting in nature, watching a sunset, away from your smart appliances, detoxifies you.
Spirituality is not just distributed in closed rooms. But nature openly shares its secrets.
It depends on you how much empty your pockets are to fill your heart with nature’s jewels.
8. Witness all your negativity.
Modern-day positivity is toxic. It has the fundamental core of negativity.
We don’t want to feel uneasy, stressed, or fearful. To avert mental doom, we force positivity down our throats.
You may daily practice remaining positive. But you can’t run from the unconscious negativity that you bury within.
If you want to be free spiritually, accept your every part.
Running away never helps. Instead, witness every thought and feeling, be it positive or negative. It is one of the shortest ways to gain spiritual freedom.
In essence, spirituality is all about witnessing whatever is happening.
9. Laugh wildly.
Even when we love a good laugh, we refrain from letting it out.
What will others think of my laughter’s insane sound, crooked teeth, and snort?
Most can’t resist the urge to immediately judge other who laughs weirdly but heartily.
What a snob! An attraction seeker. A freak.
It happens to me all the time. I laugh like a pig. And often, people would stare with their piercing eyes.
But my laughter increases after seeing their zombie faces.
We all have listened to the cliches; laughter is medicine. But medicine of what?
You come closer to the heart with laughter. It flushes out sorrowful toxins. You let go of what is unnecessary and bond closely with others and your heart.
Laughter gives you the freedom to be what you are. To accept your weird self or even uncover what you hide deep within.
10. Learn from your book of life.
You may read every book on the planet. But if you fail to read and learn from your book of life, you have failed miserably.
My spiritual master said, “Your book of life is the best book to learn from.”
- Look back.
- Notice your life as a third person.
- See what went right or wrong.
- How you behaved or reacted. What you could do better.
How much we may dream, but nobody’s life is perfect. This beautiful imperfection makes us all unique.
But desires and expectations make us run in every direction. Learn from it.
11. Stop trying too hard.
Spirituality is not a game. You don’t have to dribble any ball to get perfect.
But most people have tied their hands and legs in every direction. It pulls them apart in every direction.
The mental poo lies dispersed like a cracked nut.
Stop trying too hard. Stop reading every nonsense internet has. Stop learning every technique.
You don’t need everything to progress on your spiritual path.
All you need is sincerity and genuine effort. Then you’d know you just have to live completely with detachment.
No knowledge, no intellect, or discussion can help you. But living your life will.
12. Allow life to flow effortlessly.
Controlling your life is a spiritual repellant.
When you clutch on superficial things, you can’t go deeper into your true nature.
Look at your life story. Notice how much you were able to control things.
It is minuscule compared to what life gifts you effortlessly.
Control is an illusion that the mind loves to entertain. Controlling outcomes, incidents, other’s life, or anything.
You enter the control fantasy because of too much engagement with your mind stories.
Your life is not as you like it to be. The story that your life would be perfect once this, this, or that would happen is deceiving yourself.
Instead, when you let go of control, life flows effortlessly.
‘You’ have to be dropped for ‘life’ to happen. And it happens when you let go of control.
13. Take guidance (for at least six straight months) from someone your heart adores.
Call me crazy, but I always followed my heart. I never worried about going against the norm.
If it felt right, I was ready to jump on any tram. The only condition, my heart should nod.
That is how I was blessed with spiritual guidance.
Guidance shortens your spiritual journey by light years.
But to get genuine guidance depends on you. You’ll be attracted to a sincere individual if you are authentic.
But if you still run into worldly pleasures and greed, you’ll attract similar greedy people.
It is not that guru is not genuine. It is an insincere seeker who attracts the fake guru.
To get the best guidance for yourself:
- Follow your heart.
- Notice whom your heart adores.
- Ask for their guidance.
Follow their advice for a minimum of six months to see the changes. If you are sincere and dedicated, six months is a reasonable time to judge your progress.
You can also write down your state before you start your journey with them. To compare the baseline as you move forward.
Why?
Because most often forget how they were exactly six months back. The feelings get blurry with time.
And if you feel the progress has happened, stick with those people. Spiritual freedom takes time.
