Where do I even begin?

When I first came across this platform as I was scrolling through Google and YouTube searching for an avenue where I could make a living as a writer, I never could have imagined the wide range of opportunities that Medium has provided me and other writers as well.

In the beginning, was just like everyone else trying to find my way in this heavily occupied writer’s world.

I didn’t come in here with some sort of game plan where I knew what to do to make tons of followers, lots of views, or fast money. I wasn’t thinking about any of that.

My main focus was to simply just write and stay true to myself.

And I’m proud to say that so far, I’ve been true to myself when it came to my writing and bringing awareness about topics that mattered to me — racism (white supremacy) and Black empowerment.

Of course, I knew there were going to be pros and cons when speaking on touchy subject matters like these.

One of the cons to this route is dealing with the trolls on Medium, which in my case, were racist trolls.

And then, of course, more and more trolls came along for the ride and wanted to spew their hate comments towards me because I hurt their feelings by telling the truth.

But they don’t really bother me at all. I learned to find the humor in pissing suspected white supremacists off.

But more importantly, there are pros to what I do.

My first article took off like a rocket which shocked the hell out of me.

Here’s the article that got people talking and the money keeps on flowing even to this day.

And many months later, my following is now above 1.3K, and day by day it grows.

Now I’ve seen people on this platform complain and talk about how they aren’t winning on Medium and would write about how bad it is and how they’re going to jump on to other platforms like Vocal Media or Substack to see if they can get an easier ticket to financial prosperity.

But those people need to realize that no matter where you go, you still have to put in the work at the end of the day.

There are no shortcuts, period.

Once you start something, do not stop. Stay consistent and stay disciplined with your work.

If there’s one thing I learned about successful people, is that successful people are just regular people who didn’t quit.

So don’t quit.
