Summary

The author, a Black man from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, expresses concern about a subset of the Black community he refers to as "dusty niggas," who he believes are self-destructive and detrimental to the progress of the Black community.

Abstract

The article titled "These Type of Black People Are Dangerous!" is a candid critique of a particular group within the Black community that the author, Jaron Mays, labels as "dusty niggas." These individuals, according to Mays, are characterized by their lack of ambition, acceptance of defeat in the face of systemic oppression, and preoccupation with materialistic and trivial pursuits. Mays emphasizes that these "dusty niggas" do not represent the average Black man, whom he views as productive and progressive members of society. He draws a stark contrast between those who are focused on building a positive future for the Black community and those who, through their actions and mindset, contribute to its destruction. Mays warns that these individuals are as harmful to the Black community as the Ku Klux Klan and urges young Black men to distance themselves from such negative influences to avoid being pulled into a cycle of underachievement and self-sabotage.

Opinions

  • The author identifies a segment of the Black community, termed "dusty niggas," as individuals who have surrendered to the oppressive forces of a white supremacist system and have no ambition or goals beyond superficial material possessions.
  • He strongly differentiates between "dusty niggas" and the majority of Black men who are constructive and forward-thinking contributors to the community.
  • Mays considers "dusty niggas" to be enemies of progress within the Black community, akin to Klansmen, due to their destructive behaviors and mindsets.
  • The author believes that "dusty niggas" have a coercive influence on young Black men, attempting to pull them into a lifestyle that perpetuates a cycle of negativity and lack of achievement.
  • Mays encourages young Black men to avoid associating with "dusty niggas" to preserve their potential for success and to maintain their position outside of the negative influence of this group.

I am Black man. The black community will forever be my territory and I want to see all of my people succeed and live healthy lives and do great things. But let’s keep it real: Some of these black folks out here are worst than the damn KKK.

Dusty Niggas

All across America, we have an epidemic that’s been going on longer than COVID-19 and that’s the dusty nigga epidemic. Now I grew up in the south, born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and when I go to these different hoods around the city sometimes, they are just flooded with dusty niggas. And the thing is, a lot of times, a lot of good black men get lumped in with the dusty niggas. What I want people to understand is that dusty niggas DO NOT represent the average black man. We need to start differentiating these dusty niggas from the solid brothers we have out here that are productive and progressive members of the black community. For starters, let’s define what a dusty nigga is: dusty niggas are just black men who have been beaten down by this white supremacists system to the point where they’ve given up and accepted defeat. Ironically, they’ve waved the white flag. They’ve accepted a low-level dusty life. No ambition; no goals and if they do have goals, it’s something small like buying a bunch of Air Jordans or getting rims for their car. They live for trivial nigga shit: smoking, drinking, and fucking. That’s why I choose to separate myself from them because they don’t represent me and I don’t represent them. We may be in the same race, but we don’t have the same mindset. Black folks like myself are about building and these dusty niggas are about destroying. I look at them no different than Klansman — they are my enemy. Just coon ass niggas because have this coon mentality where they’re dusty and they want everyone else around them to be dusty like them. So if you’re a young brother that’s reading this, learn to keep your distance from these dusty niggas because all they are going to do is try to get you sucked up into their world. They’re real good at playing mind games with these young folks minds into getting them to believe that up is down and down is up. Don’t let them trick you out of your position and have you in the mix with them because they ain’t gonna be shit.

Got it? Good.
