INSPIRATION
10 Concerns, Desires and Aspirations from an Unknown Writer
Creative ideas to get posts seen from Trisha Dunbar
I have read many articles on Medium but it was only 30 days ago that for whatever reason I decided to start writing on Medium. As a published author and long term ghost-writer I am not new to writing, but I am new to writing about writing on Medium!
This post was inspired by Dr Mehmet Yildiz’s writing challenge. I discovered Illumination after it was recommended by some of the writers I follow. If you would like to find out more about this writing challenge I’ve posted the link below 👇
1. As a writer, my major pain points and struggles are ….
As I am new to Medium it’s all about how to use the platform and best format my articles for maximum effect. I am interested in building my own engaging community for discussion, but it’s knowing where to start! I am looking to find other writers to network with. As a dyslexic writer with ADHD some days are easier than others.
2. As a writer, my desires and aspirations are …
I have 4 goals about my writing that will help me achieve my main aspirations of becoming a better writer.
1- My main focus is building an engaging community of followers. My goal is to have 1K followers within the next 3 months. 2- I plan to create my own Publication called ‘New Era’, focusing on Life After Lockdown. 3- I want to learn from the best and put that knowledge to practical use and improve my writing skills. 4- Any money earned a long the way will be an awesome bonus.
In order to get posts seen it’s important that instead of focusing on monetary gain you focus on building and engaging with a community.
3 — Here are my top five stories that received the most views so far…
4. Here are my great stories that did not receive the required level of attention from readers and that's okay…
5. These ten people read my stories regularly. I am grateful to them…
I actually want to give a big shout out and thank you to all of my followers. I am grateful and look forward to getting to know you better, but the 10 that have engaged the most so far with my posts are ***Drum roll please *** (Some of these fellow writers and Readers also have some excellent posts you really need to check out)…
2. Nitish Menon
5. Emer Ryan
6. Ellen McRae
8. Brajendra
9. Srini
10. Raza Hussain, MD
6. These five writers I follow regularly…
Here are the 5 awesome writers I follow and have learnt so much from. These writers are incredibly supportive of newbies on Medium and I am most grateful to them, thank you…
4. Tim Denning
7. I plan on writing about these topics. My reason…
My academic and professional background is wellbeing. I have my degrees in psychology and health/science related subjects. Before I worked in health care I worked with computers. So you will mainly catch me writing about wellbeing, mental health, self-improvement, leadership and all things digital — plus robotics too. I also like to take a light hearted look at life.

8. I plan to read more about these topics. My reasons …
I am planning to read more marketing based articles and as I am new to Medium more how to articles on how to best use this platform.
9. I want to read more from these writers…
I am still discovering new writers but I look forward to reading more from these awesome writers!
10. If I were the owner of Medium, I’d implement these features to support writers and readers…
I’d implement more features that focused on building stronger and more engaged community, such as a tip button for writers. I’d also put in a traffic light system to reward those that engage in communities and send out alerts to writers who haven’t engaged in a while with their community.
