You Want Peace In Your Head? You Have To Disengage Now!

Let’s face it. The avalanche of bad news is overbearing.

We are plagued by excessive news coverage for topics pertaining to pandemic infections, a second wave, unprecedented unemployment rates, volatile financial markets and retail politics.

This is akin to having multiple Chicken Littles running amok.

The best part?

They are everywhere.

They are on television, on radio and in the smartphones we carry with us all day.

What can we do to maintain our mental health and sanity?

# 1 — Get to the Parks.

Morning walks in the neighbourhood park does me a lot of good. A trip along the river allows me to appreciate the serenity of surroundings with their reflections. The sky-blue and leaf-green seems to do wonders for the mind through my eyes.+

# 2 — Hit The Books.

Reading classics is a brilliant way to focus on the things that matter.

Afterall, classics are classics because they withstand the test of time.

News does not withstand the test of time as it expires by the next day.

Henceforth, focus on the “evergreens” for a positive outlook in life.

# 3 — Get Me-Time.

When negativity infiltrates, get Me-Time quickly before they eat into the day.

Note — Emotions tend to snowball.

Arrest our thoughts when they happen and then purge them off as soon as we can.

10–15 minutes of Me-Time in the office toilet cubicle would do the trick.

My Brief Takeaway.

These are my methods for maintaining my mental health and sanity.

My personal favourite is getting Me-Time as it works for me on a daily basis.
