You Can Now Access Minecraft 1.20 Features Without Loading Up A Snapshot

You can now test out the new features using an experiment toggle.

In a few previous posts, I spoke about what’s coming in the next Minecraft 1.20 update. Interestingly, even though the new update isn't out yet, players can test out the features without loading a snapshot version of the game.

Minecraft is a popular sandbox video game that allows players to explore a vast world filled with various resources to gather, items to craft, and creatures to encounter.

The game has been receiving regular updates from its developer, Mojang Studios, introducing new features, gameplay mechanics, and bug fixes.

While the next major update for Minecraft has not yet received a launch date, the recent Java version update 1.19.4 includes a toggle to activate all of the big Minecraft 1.20 features announced so far.

In previous game versions, players had to juggle between different snapshot builds if they wanted to test the new sniffer, cherry blossom biome, and archeology features.

However, with the recent update, players can activate these features by toggling the game experiments feature. The “create new world menu” has also been changed, allowing players to turn on the 1.20 features for a fresh save file.

According to the patch notes for version 1.19.4, the game experiments toggle now includes the “first look” at the sniffer, archeology, armor trims, and cherry grove biome.

However, the “first look” designation suggests that these features are incomplete, and players may encounter bugs or glitches while testing them. For instance, in snapshot builds so far, sniffers could only be seen by spawning them in creative mode and were not uncovered in the wild.

Apart from the new features, Java version 1.19.4 also includes other changes, such as improved breeding for horse stats, accessibility feature onboarding for first-time players, and a long list of bug fixes.

Players who want to be on the absolute bleeding edge can install snapshot builds in the “Installations” tab of their Minecraft launcher with the “snapshots” checkbox ticked. This way, they can test the new features in expanded forms later, even if they encounter bugs or glitches.

The sniffer is one of the most exciting new features in the upcoming Minecraft 1.20 update. This creature is a type of axolotl that can be found in the lush caves biome, which will be introduced in the 1.20 update.

The sniffer can detect hidden mineshafts and dungeons in the area, making it an essential companion for cave exploration. Players can capture the sniffer using a water bucket and take it with them on their adventures.

Another new feature in the 1.20 update is the archeology system. This feature allows players to excavate artifacts and relics from various dig sites in the game.

The artifacts can be pieced together to create complete relics, which can be displayed in the player’s home or sold to collectors for profit. The archeology system adds a new layer of depth to the game’s exploration and rewards players for their curiosity.

The cherry blossom biome is another exciting addition to Minecraft in the 1.20 update. This biome features pink cherry blossom trees, which drop cherry blossom petals that players can use to craft various items.

The biome also includes new types of fish and underwater plants, making it a vibrant and colorful location to explore.
