Being productive, in general, can often be a challenge but working whilst constantly on the move, can make things even harder. A common challenge faced by many digital nomads is staying productive with constant temptations surrounding us. We need to have self-discipline and motivation to get the most of our day.
So, how can we be more productive as digital nomads?
DISTRACTION FREE: Understand how you work best and find a workspace where you can activate your mind and get focused. For some, this may be a distraction-free dedicated workspace at home and for others, this could be a coworking space or coffee shop.
GET SUFFICIENT SLEEP: Not getting enough sleep can directly impact your efficiency. Being well-rested will make you more productive. It’s also important to find your sleep pattern as it could be that you’re either over-sleeping or not getting enough. Listen to your body, find your optimal rest time and sleep pattern.
PLAN THE NIGHT BEFORE: Spend 10 minutes in the evening, planning for your day ahead. You’ll wake up knowing exactly what you need to do and it helps you see the day clearly.
FOCUS ON YOU: Getting enough sleep, healthy eating, and exercising really make a difference to your energy levels and in turn your daily productivity.
BUILD A ROUTINE: Make it simple. You don’t have to build a routine for your entire day but in your ever-changing life, this helps you get into the zone of working as your body will adjust to the routine. I have a morning routine that I can do from anywhere which helps eliminate any decision-making and allows for a great start to the day.
TAKE A BREAK: Breaks are the most important of all. If you are well rested then you’ll be more productive. Schedule a couple of 5–10 mins breaks throughout the day to keep up your energy levels. Go for a walk, have a coffee, call a friend or perhaps a lunchtime power nap could be the fix.
TRAVEL SLOW: Slow travel gives you the chance to build a routine and in turn avoid having to adapt to every new environment.
Find the methods that work best to maximize your productivity at work The more efficient you are, the less time you’ll feel overworked and stressed allowing more time to enjoy your travels.
