Why Creatives Need To Watch Silly Movies

When I watch movies, I watch love movies from Hallmark. I love those Hallmark movies. I won’t say those movies are silly, but not as high quality like Lord of The Rings or Harry Potter.

What is a silly movie? I think a silly movie is a movie that doesn’t have a high-quality storyline and might be the same as all those other movies from the same company, just like Hallmark.

I already mentioned that I love those Hallmark movies; they are light-hearted with lots of romance. They also have a detective series as well and I just love all of those Hallmark movies. Those movies are all a bit the same. But also a little bit silly too. I mean, they’re just not really good enough for those bigger Hollywood scenes, I believe. (I could be wrong, though).

Creatives need to watch those silly movies too, even if you don’t like them.

Creatives need inspiration

As a creative I want inspiration and I need inspiration, but mostly it comes just from my thumb. No, just kidding. But my inspiration comes from hose silly movies, TED Talks, High-quality and low-quality movies, video’s I love to watch, stories I read, articles I read, news I watch, and my own daily life.

I believe that watching those silly movies makes you think about (different) topics. These topics could the topics you haven’t thought about for a long time. Think about love, education, children, interior, exterior etc. These things could be used for your blog post as a blogger, screenplay writer, book writer, movie writer or anything for behind the scenes employee.

I think there will also be a certain truth in those silly movies, only we have to watch carefully for those truths while watching those movies to find them. If you find them, you have tons of ideas coming up. When I get the ideas, I use my wonderful notebooks for every platform I use.

When I think about my ideas, most stories are already in my mind. Before I write something, I use my word program or here on Medium and think about it for a few times before hit the publish button.

Most of those movies are also based on people's lives, or writers see a lot of things happening when you’re on your way to your work sitting on the train. Watching other people (don’t too that too much) and listening to stories people have together.
