Quickie: Which Sexual Positions Are Most Popular?
People share preferences for assuming the position

What are people’s favorite sexual positions? Although you may think people favor something exotic and kinky, according to a survey conducted by Adam & Eve, the all-time favorite sexual position is as traditional as vanilla ice cream: missionary.
“During periods of stress or uncertainty, many people tend to cling to what they know.”
In a survey of 1,000 Americans, the sex toy company found 23 percent of people reported that missionary was their favorite position. Other preferences that made the list were doggy style (18 percent), cowgirl (12 percent), reverse cowgirl (4 percent), and spooning (2 percent).

“It’s no surprise that most couples prefer missionary….”
According to Adam & Eve’s resident sexologist Dr. Jenni Skyler, sex position preferences often have more to do with the stress couples are experiencing, rather than the position itself.
“During periods of stress or uncertainty, many people tend to cling to what they know,” Skyler said. “They find comfort in the tried and true, and that corresponds to lovemaking as well. It’s no surprise that most couples prefer missionary — which allows face-to-face intimacy — over more acrobatic or distant positions.”
Adam & Eve conducted this sexual position survey ten years ago and back then, missionary also topped the list with 32 percent of respondents saying it was their all-time favorite. Other positions were doggy style (23 percent), cowgirl (22 percent), spooning (6 percent), and reverse cowgirl (4 percent).
