Productivity
When You Do Absolutely Nothing All Day
Today was one of those days, and it felt good.

“Absolutely nothing” would be absolutely incorrect.
Finnigan and I took a long nap together. He is one of my grandbabies.
Yeah, It was one of those days, and you know what? I deserved it. I bet you’ve had one of those days when you felt like doing nothing. Did you surrender to it? Or did you plow through it with productivity?
Yesterday, I read two stories back to back, in the order, they showed up on my Medium app. One was an older one from Linda Caroll, and the other was brand new from Trista Ainsworth.
They both talked about doing just 3 things. I wondered, is the Universe trying to tell me something?
The idea is simple. You could accomplish more by doing less. I decided to give it a try today.
Upon awakening this morning, I lay there in bed, meditating and visualizing having a wonderful day, feeling the joy.
Then, I made breakfast, and the mother of my children and I ate together. That was my way of showing gratitude to her for letting me stay Sheltered in Place, in her apartment.
The third thing, I read a few pages from On Writing Well by William Zinsser.
I fired up the computer to get some work done, stared at the screen for a few minutes, turned it off, grabbed my phone, and went on the patio to get some Vitamin D. Finnigan came out too.
My phone told me that Dr. Jackie Greenwood thought one of my stories was funny enough for her to tip me.
I definitely got $3 of laughing out of this — a coffee is coming your way !
After an hour of twiddling thumbs and playing on the phone, I came back in. Finnigan jumped on his throne next to my chair and demanded that I pet him. His purring turned into snoring. I thought that was a great idea, too.
I headed to the couch in the living room, and Finnigan took over my comfy chair. My daughter thought he belonged in the kitty hammock next to me. I took a selfie, set the phone aside, and closed my eyes.
Next thing I know, It was 4 PM. It was time to prepare dinner. We’re having homemade pizza tonight.
Supper, family time, and the realization that I haven’t done jackshit today. It’s already 8 PM. Oh well, life goes on. I got this story written, and now I will proceed to work on the Route 66 recap for day 68.
Have you ever had one those days where you didn’t feel like doing anything? What did you do? Tell us in the comments, or better yet, write a story about it and tag me so I can read it.
I can’t tag Amy Marley because she is on a reading fast as a part of her work with Julia Cameron’s book, The Artist’s Way. However, I will tag some other friends.
Paul Myers MBA Julia E Hubbel Helen Cassidy Page Bob Jasper Holly Jahangiri Sharon Hurley Hall Agnes Louis Susannah MacKinnie Dennett Caroline de Braganza Rebecca Romanelli Gurpreet Dhariwal P.G.
