Summary

A survey by Superdrug Online Doctor indicates that a significant number of people find housework, such as cooking and cleaning, to be a non-sexual turn-on when done by their partner.

Abstract

The survey conducted by Superdrug Online Doctor reveals an unexpected aspect of intimacy among couples: the allure of domestic chores. It found that 58 percent of the 1,000 respondents from the U.S. and U.K. reported feeling turned on by their partner performing household tasks. The most enticing chores included cooking, cleaning, and being handy around the house. Additionally, 49 percent of respondents admitted that collaborating on chores like making the bed or cooking led to sexual encounters, suggesting that domestic teamwork can be a catalyst for romance. The survey highlights the potential for everyday activities to enhance sexual attraction and intimacy between partners.

Opinions

  • The survey implies that mundane activities such as housework can unexpectedly contribute to sexual arousal and intimate experiences within a relationship.
  • Cooking tops the list as the most arousing household chore, followed by cleaning and being handy.
  • A substantial portion of respondents (49 percent) believe that shared chores can lead to sexual encounters, indicating a positive correlation between teamwork in household tasks and increased intimacy.
  • The survey suggests that the act of observing a partner engaged in domestic tasks, or participating in them together, can be a significant non-sexual turn-on for many individuals.
  • Superdrug Online Doctor's analysis of the survey data encourages couples to view housework not just as a routine obligation but as an opportunity to make their relationship more exciting.

We know that people can be turned on by the strangest things, but if you’re like me — that is, without a domestic bone in your body — you may find it strange that some couples are actually turned on by housework. Nonetheless, Superdrug Online Doctor did a survey that found that not only do people get hot and bothered by the housework, it detailed which types of chores are able to raise temperatures and lead to bedroom romps.

After surveying 1,000 people in the United States and United Kingdom, researchers found that 58 percent of them do get turned on when their partner does work around the house. The most arousing chores were:

  • Cooking (62 percent)
  • Cleaning (48 percent)
  • Being handy around the house (43 percent)
  • Making the bed (40 percent)
  • Doing dishes (35 percent)
  • Yardwork (34 percent)
  • Washing a car (30 percent)

“Doing chores with their partner had turned into a sexual encounter at least once….”

Just as watching their partner doing housework turned respondents on, 49 percent also admitted that doing chores with their partner made them feel frisky — and led to a sexual encounter. The breakdown of the sexiest chores that were a team effort was:

  • Making the bed (52 percent)
  • Cooking (45 percent)
  • Cleaning (45 percent)
  • Doing dishes (24 percent)
  • Being handy around the house (21 percent)
  • Doing laundry (20 percent)
  • Washing a car (12 percent)
  • Yardwork (11 percent)
  • Organizing closets/drawers (10 percent)

“Nearly half of people acknowledged that doing chores with their partner had turned into a sexual encounter at least once,” Superdrug Online Doctor explained in a blog post about the survey. “If you’re looking for an opportunity to make housework more exciting, making the bed, cooking , cleaning, and doing the dishes might be your best bet.”
