This What Happens When Your Medium Story Has Over 2,000 Views
You will get more than money
When I hear Medium writers “complain” that they don’t earn as much, I never knew what they are talking about because most of my stories earn me a cent, and I am Ok with it.
If I add all my one-cent stories, a hundred of those is still $1. By reframing my thoughts, I have no fear of money.
The truth is I am very grateful for every cent that comes my way, money that would not be in my pocket if I don’t write.
What did I earn after I got over 20,000 views?
Yes, this story has over 20,000 views, and I got $4.73. Again, my heart is full of gratitude, money that wouldn’t be in my pocket if I didn’t write the story.
It was a short form. But, I remember I felt that I have to write about Nightbirde, so more people would get to hear her sing.
You Can’t Wait Until Life Isn’t Hard Anymore before You Decide to Be Happy — Nightbirde.
And while it did get 20,000 views, most of it comes from people who are not Medium subscribers. As such, all I get from the Medium Partner Program was $4.73 from 319 readers.
But the lesson I got from having this many views in one story is that it can happen, even to someone like me with less than 700 followers.
What did I earn after I got over 2,000 views?
Now that my story — How to Lose 20 Pounds in 30 Days without Exercise like Tim Ferris has become “viral, I don’t know what the “big time “ Medium writers are complaining about.
If one article can earn $66 and have less than 700 followers, I reckon they can potentially earn anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000 a month.
And I get it, people want more, I am grateful to the Universe that my needs are provided.

More than the money, there is more than a viral story will provide you.
The magic is in the information you will find, along with how much money you have made so far — Reader’s Interest.
The Blessings of Wisdom for she is more profitable than silver, and her gain is better than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire compares with her.
Reader’s Interest
To help you understand your audience more fully, here, you’ll see a chart that shows the topics that the readers of this story are most interested in. The listed percentages are the proportion of logged-in viewers of the story who follow each topic. You can use this data to decide what you might want to write about next and to see whether you’re reaching your intended audience. Note: to protect reader privacy, we will not show this data unless your story has reached a certain threshold of logged-in readers.
In my story, the reader’s interest shows:
- HEALTH — 29%
- MINDFULNESS — 25%
- FITNESS — 23%
- PSYCHOLOGY — 21%
- LIFESTYLE — 21%
- TRAVEL — 20%
If I want to replicate the success of this story, I have to resonate with the same audience who reads about — health, mindfulness, fitness, psychology, lifestyle, and travel.
I already have a few stories I can think of that will match the reader’s profile. So, all I need to do is create a list of “writing prompts” based on the reader’s interests.
Conclusion
Medium is an excellent place for writers. For one, it pays the writers. I do get it. We feel we deserve more, and it is in our DNA to want more.
When Medium gave us the writing bonus, some complained that the rules changed, and now that it will soon be over, some people still complained.
I don’t want to be a part of it because any time spent complaining is time away from the laptop to write a story.
Of course, we also can choose to leave as some did.
You can use this data to decide what you might want to write about next and to see whether you’re reaching your intended audience.
Even Medium wants us to be successful and pay us, but we need to do the work, and I know it is hard.
I am in a self-imposed writing challenge.
It is challenging what we do, but it is rewarding not only in monetary means but also as writers.
This is how our creative soul grows. From our imagination to the paper, the experience makes our creativity come to life as we unleash our words.
Believe in yourself.
Love your readers.
Respect the platform.
Always be grateful, and not only will you be a happy writer, but a happy person.
Live in abundance, my fellow writers. There is money to be made here.
