What I Read This Week — The Highlights
For the week of December 31, 2023
When we read, it expands our minds in tons of interesting ways. It opens us up to new perspectives and ideas. It helps us to learn and grow. When we read personal stories, it also helps us to be more empathetic and connect to others.
With all the different types of pieces available for us to read here on Medium each week, there are always opportunities for us to learn more about the world, and consequently about ourselves.
It is a gift to be a part of a community like this, with so many beautiful writers sharing their stories! This week, I also became a friend of Medium to help support our beautiful community in 2024.
I hope that your new year is off to a lovely start so far! Here are some of the pieces that touched my heart this week, and I hope they will benefit you as well!
The first story I want to highlight this week comes from Grace Delphia and talks about her resolution for 2024: Self-acceptance. This is something that all of us can benefit from because in today’s world accepting ourselves as we are can be difficult.
Following the trend of leaning into yourself in 2024, I would also like to highlight a piece from AJ, which talks about self-care. We have this conditioning that self-care is selfish and needs to be dismantled, and in doing so, we can live a fuller life.
The next piece I want to highlight comes from Jocelyn Joy Thomas, and talks about how to align with your soul. This piece offers a simple technique to be more spiritually in touch with yourself that I hope you all find valuable!
The last piece I want to share comes from Amanda Melheim, and talks about a technique for embracing yourself. This is a psychological healing technique that you practice with a partner, to get to know yourself better.
I hope that these pieces are helpful for you as you enter the new year! This year, I have chosen Softness as my word of the year, and I think that leaning into self-care and self-acceptance in the way these authors describe will be so helpful in the coming year!
I will leave you with this message from Dawn Bevier, talking about living softly, to help you ease into the new year with grace and self-love.
Have a blessed week, my lovelies! I hope that 2024 is kind to you, and full of blessings! Happy reading, and happy writing.
