What Do You Get When You Deny Reality? The GOP

That Santos kid from New York has become the Jew-ish poster boy for all things Republican. This guy lied about everything he ever did or was. The Republican leadership, if you can call it that, can’t say shit with a mouthful because they are devoted to the Grand Old Party and/or the Dissembler in Chief. Santos has to be looking at the furor over his made up resume and wondering why he’s being treated differently than the Big Guy. Tulsi Gabbard nailed it when she asked Georgie Porgie if he had no shame. It’s The Question for the entire Republican gaggle of miscreants. It’s not like the Democrats don’t do the same thing when they have the chance, but this is the first time in about 150 years that we’ve experienced this amount of chaos in politics over a selfish hooray for oursided-ness.
I get that Kissing Kevin has a very slim majority, but I do not understand how someone with the history of dishonesty that Georgie represents can possibly be trusted with leadership responsibility for the Republican Party. Even though he’s a freshman Representative. We already have Margie, Lauren, Matt, Louie, Mark, the Ricks (both Perry and Scott) and the Ex himself, Mr. Damn and his whole Damned family. Then there is a whole host of lesser luminaries like Keri, Ronny Di, Greg, Jimmy from Ohio, Lindsey, Ginny, Josh and last but not least, Kissing Kevin himself. There are other Republicans who are distasteful as well but for the most part those folks are willing to find common ground. Just to be fair, Kristen and Joe have some questions to answer if anyone has the Gabbards to ask them. At least the Democrats often employ common sense in their dealings. That is not something that appears to exist in the Redmen.
What I want to know is who vetted Georgie before he became the Republican nominee for Representative. His misleading resume was certainly as misleading before he started his campaign as it is now. Whoever gave Georgie the green light should be taken to the woodshed, just like Georgie should. This can not end well for the boy, can it? But then it seems to be some sort of rite of passage for Republican operatives to claim outright fabrications as the God’s own truth. It seems that unless they can lie with a straight face, they just don’t cut the Republican mustard. I shouldn’t be too surprised by all of this because the great American pastime is finding ever more inventive ways to ignore bad behavior. A prime example is when He-Whose-Name-May-Not-Be-Mentioned came down the escalator. We all knew he was a spoiled rich kid who only knew how to game the system and grift. But we refused to call him out on it. We all acted like Karens at a parent teacher meeting denying that her kids are self-indulgent monsters. Just consider the fake outrage over the testimony of the Hutchinson girl. Both sides of the aisle were indignant. One side sang the verse of “How dare she?” And the other side sang the chorus of “How dare you accuse her?” Neither side stopped and thought about what they wanted nor what to do about it, really. No one wanted to tell the Prez he was a jerk. It might be viewed as bad form.
Those who view gentrification as a God-given right sometimes forget that they are just as prejudiced as those who view their monied status as a God-given right. Well-to-do people might very well have a need to compensate for the physical limitations of their kids by giving their children a lesson in one-upmanship by paying for their kid to do something that a less wealthy parent may find beyond their budget. On the other hand that kid without the physical limitation could turn out to be a Larry Bird. While the indulged kid might very well turn out to be a Ronny Di.
Which brings us to the question of why does the word “woke” evoke such emotional response no matter from what side of the aisle you hail. One reason, I suspect, is that to be gentrified, one must never ever offend anyone now living or dead. The most important social grace that the gentrified can possibly have is fairness. The fly in the ointment with this stand is the definition of “offend.” I don’t think it’s offensive to tell the truth, but truth can be determined only in context. This context thing is a major pain in the behind. Not for me or you, but for anyone we encounter. There can be no method of determining the context of a real thing and therefore a true thing without patience.
Meanwhile, the affluent feel the constraints imposed by the gentrified and chafe under them for the suffocation they feel as a result of trying to remain as acceptable as possible. They know they must see what is real or they stand a very good chance of losing their affluence and most often they have busted their asses to gain that status. I can’t blame them for not wanting to go through those trials and tribulations ever again. That set of circumstances would tend to make anyone leery of change. But it also robs them of patience for any kind of reality denial. But that leaves them a bit cranky which leads to offending people by saying what they see as true or real. Usually both camps can find common ground to allow both camps the ability to live within their definition of reality. That ability is often called fairness.
These days we have yet another player in the world of political ideology. The Reality Deniers. They represent an ancient tradition of non-fairness. They were the political group who sent Galileo to the house for saying reality was that the earth circled the sun, not the other way around. Nowadays, we’d call that group Magaites. They tend to embody the definition of stupid people. They destroy things with no gain for themselves. The lasting example is the people who stormed the capital a couple of years ago. It’s the destruction that makes them dangerous because no one can afford to replace the stuff they destroy. What would it have cost should they have succeeded in interrupting the certification of the Electoral College vote count? Is it any wonder that there are Magaites that support Vladdy? He’s destroying Ukraine with no hope of gain for himself rather in the same manner as Margie would like to destroy the US government.
The hallmark of this political wing of the conservative movement is a total disregard for anything fair. Fair is considered as a nearly un-American behavior. But then this wing of conservatism tends to ignore the rule of law. There can be no future for that self-destructive belief structure. It will eat itself. The American public has always moved toward honesty and fairness. That’s why the Civil War was fought and is still being fought. It’s about the unfairness of implied oppression of anyone enslaved by the inhumanity of pursuing money for money’s sake. No one minds anyone making all the money they want, but then they should consider that to be fair no one should want for food or shelter. That is an emerging concept of fairness being practiced by a growing number of private citizens making lives better, one person at a time, by paying forward a past kindness. This is a concept that I don’t expect the likes of Georgie, Margie, Matt or even Kissing Kevin to champion.
Happy New Year to all of you.

Forging Agreement’s newest on-demand workshop is available on Teachable now. Learn more about the ideas that John introduces in his blogs in the Program Theory On-Demand Workshop!
One way to think about how your mind works is to consider it as a biocomputer. It has an operating system and different types of applications and programs that run when called, in similar fashion to a regular computer. The results of this workshop will give you new ways to consider your own beliefs, emotions, feelings and logical thoughts and how you can choose to modify them to meet your own requirements.
The workshop combines a series of on-demand videos with group discussions. Program Theory is taught by John Worthington and Paul Grenci. Contact @forgingagreement on Facebook or Instagram or email [email protected] for more information!
