“What does Lorenzo want?”
The prisoner casts a sidelong glance. “Why should I tell you? I’m dead no matter what I do, right?”
You step away from him, your heart pounding in your ears. Your head is full of laughter and conversations with your family.
Lorenzo’s chuckle — deep and guttural — leaves your skin crawling. Your chest tightens, and the air is heavy with anticipation. The sensation of cold sweat and trembling — etched in your memory — returns after being locked away for years.
Not another panic attack…
“Hey, are you okay?” the prisoner asks.
Other voices join in.
Please, stop talking…
Choose your next action.
