You clench your hand around the cold handle of the dagger.
Rogue thoughts fill your mind, crackling like electricity in a thunderstorm.
You can almost hear the laughter of your family echoing in your ears as memories of them flash before you…
They are like beautiful paintings…
You smell the sweet scent of wildflowers as you close your eyes to savor the images before they disappear…
Alaric gasps when you drive the dagger into him. He opens his mouth, but all that escapes is a whispering sigh.
You hear your own sobs and taste the salt in your tears.
