Weekend Musings in ILLUMINATION — The Best Investment Ever Made.

The best investment I have ever made has nothing to do with Stocks, Bonds or Mutual Funds.

It has to do with myself.

I, am my best investment.

In a way that investing in myself is one of the best deals I have ever made, I believe that investing in ourselves would be the best advice as well.

Rich people continuously invest in themselves. As I have read and if it is true, Bill Gates takes 2 weeks of annual leave every year so he can connect with nature and go on his reading journey. Warren Buffett is known to be constantly learning about business and investments through reading various companies’ Annual Report or Letters to Shareholders daily.

The best investment is self-improvement.

It could be something easy like reading a new book or re-reading an existing one from our private collection. A new book that talks about upcoming trends in the industry we are in. It could be a new book that totally irrelevant to what we do day-to-day which teaches us a set of Life Knowledge and vocabulary. It could also be taking an online course, attending seminars or webinars.

It allows for knowledge consolidation, acquisition as well as skills upgrade.

And that would mean higher value for offer to the marketplace.

As we know, the higher value we can offer personally and professionally, the higher the premium the market is willing to pay for consuming our products and services.

One more point.

I love investing in myself because there are zero risks. If we learned something valuable, nobody can take that away from us. It follows us wherever we go, and that means we are building skill-sets that cannot be taken away from us the way jobs can be. Investing in ourselves continuously and consistently gives us that advantage in life.

When our skill-sets improve, so will our income. It takes time, I know. And as with all good things in life, time to maturity is required.

Unlike Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds that are susceptible to market forces and volatility, constantly investing in ourselves has no inherent volatility determined by others.

Here is one example.

If we can write — We can write for a company in Corporate Communication department, we can sell articles to Blogs, we can write for Medium.

As we become more well-versed writing in various styles and diverse genres, we get to open more doors of opportunities.

It can be that simple.

Time-consuming, but simple.

And let’s not forget this Life Principle.

When we get to generate more income as well as multiple streams of income, we will also have more money for future investments. It is a virtuous cycle.

That’s why the rich get richer.

They invest in themselves.

We are our best investments.

If we invest in ourselves.

It can be that simple.
