Waterfall of Blue Stars

That is, Campanula ‘Blue Waterfall’

This brilliantly named plant is doing what its name suggests it will do — falling down walls all over the neighbourhood. It looks fab!

These enormous poppies are startlingly red. (Especially first thing when I’ve not had enough coffee!)

Gladiolus Communis has such an electric colour it makes me wonder if it glows at night.

This honeysuckle (above right) has the most glorious fragrance in the early morning sun.

I’m not sure which rose this is, but I do like the way it goes from deep orange (the bud at the back), to a middling apricot to very white-white as it ages.

Once again, the peace of the neighbourhood, and my ears, were saved by the existence of a small wall under this fence above — it prevented PupperJack from seeing this squirrel.

He — the squirrel — was surprisingly relaxed and waited for me to faff about trying to get my phone out of my pocket to take a pic and so I managed to get a recognisable photo of him. I have many photos on my phone that I look at and wonder why I took them — they were probably pictures of squirrels taken so far away they can’t be seen!

This white flower is very, very white in the morning sun — it is Convolvulus cneorum and, although related to the bindweed which gets everywhere you don’t want it to, is in bush form and flowers in the same place every year.

Screenshot of the current state of my new webstore

I have spent a lot of time trying to set up a webstore, so I’m not so reliant on other people’s stores — like Amazon and Etsy. Things are changing so fast with AI and the way businesses are going that I feel the need to be more self-reliant in terms of where I sell my stuff.

The above webstore is really for my books, but I’ve set it up with a few prints to get the hang of it in the first place. Prints take fewer add-ons and apps and Dog knows what else that has to integrate with the new store than books do.

I am nowhere near done!

So I’ve had a pretty bad-tempered week. It’s all a steep learning curve and there are so many bits and pieces that have to be fitted in together.

PupperJack upon being told later that he’d missed seeing a squirrel.

He still hasn’t quite forgiven me.

Last week included ‘National Sing Out Day’, which is all about singing for yourself — singing and ‘letting it all out’ — that is — sing out loud in an uninhibited and relaxed manner.

Apparently, it takes about 100 muscles in your body to sing, and singing can prevent your voice from deteriorating with age. (I never knew that before!)

It was also ‘National Tap Dance Day’ — hence the ‘Tap, tap, tappety-tappety-tap, tap’ kitties!

Dennett started the Photo-a-Day Challenge to help combat the pandemic blues. Since then many others kindly share their week with us:

Barrett, Penny Grubb, Ellie Jacobson, Shruthi Sundaram, Jillian Amatt — Artistic Voyages, Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles, Ann James
