Unleash Your Creative Potential: Embracing a Reframed Mindset as a Part-Time Creator
Rewriting the Narrative

Some days don’t start off well.
Everything feels like it’s falling apart.
You sit in front of your laptop for hours, but the words just won’t come out. You don’t feel any inspiration or spark.
It feels like everything you do is a waste of time, money, and energy.
It’s as if the sun will never shine again.
Starting to write online seems like the worst idea you could have had.
All you feel physically capable of is hiding away under the cozy cover and getting lost in new season of Succession.
If you’re feeling like that, read this:
Learn Your Patterns:
Everything has a pattern if you stick around long enough to notice it.
We all tend to repeat similar behaviors again and again.
When I walk on trails during my hikes, I see the tracks left behind by people who came before me.
It makes me think that this is the right way to go.
This could be your thoughts.
What you say to yourself, everyday.
Your internal-chatter who let you self-doubt more-often.
Accept That Failing is Okay:
My biggest fear is getting stuck in ruts and routines, and feeling frustrated with everything I do.
I’ve struggled a lot with this feeling, especially when I’ve been here before and thought I had overcome it.
I did the work and managed to get out of it, but now it’s back.
How?
I’ve felt stuck in my life recently and thought nothing can fix it.
Everything I try or do it’s not worth it.
That left me anxious, agitated, stressed out, and uninspired.
Start Again:
In the fall, trees lose all their leaves only to bloom again in spring.
Sometimes, you just have to wait for your own spring to come.
You can’t rush cherry blossoms.
The only thing you can do is recognize that you can’t control everything around you and see what you can do today.
Maybe it’s seeing things from a different perspective or taking one step at a time.
Accept:
It’s okay to fall off track, to lose your way.
It’s okay to let things fall apart.
Once you accept that, there’s no holding off.
You can accept that today is a bad day, and nothing is going to change that.
And you go on doing the regular things you do every day:
- going for a walk,
- washing dishes,
- or organizing your closet.
These little things uplift you, and you’ll know you’re ready to tackle bigger things.
That’s some progress, right?
One Step at a Time:
When I started strength training, I began with a 1-pound weight. You read it right, it’s not a typo.
My body wasn’t built for lifting weights.
But slowly, I increased the weight and reps in my training routine.
You go from 1 to 3 to 5 and suddenly you start lifting 25 pounds.
The change was gradual.
It took me three years to reach there.
When you hot your bottom, you start from zero.
And slowly, you add one thing and then another.
And before you know it, you realize your own strength.
When you’re going through life, take it one step at a time:
- today, just write a heading;
- tomorrow, write an outline and read one page;
- the third day, write 500 words and read five pages.
And go from there.
Lastly,
Here’s the hard truth: it’s difficult to write everyday.
To show up.
I have a extremely demanding job.
Writing on a side is a hustle. And sometimes I fell into the trap.
It’s a battle to keep showing up as a part-time creator.
Some days are hard.
But most day, you are breaking free.
Everything seems worth fighting for.
That’s when the change happens.
And it’s okay to hold on to good days.
